Who is Ready for the €25,000 6+ Hold'em High Roller?

It's been four months since the first-ever 6+ Hold'em event, better known as Short Deck, debuted on the PokerStars European Poker Tour. A €2,150 event at EPT Monte Carlo attracted a total of 35 entries and was won by Italian Dario Sammartino for €23,100.

Tonight, the high rollers get a chance at the format for the very first time here at the Casino Barcelona, with the €25,000 6+ Hold'em High Roller getting underway at 7 p.m.

Just like most other short deck tournaments around the world, this tournament comes with a Triple Chance, where players may start with either 50,000/100,000 or 150,000 chips from the start of the tournament. All chips must be claimed before the close of registration which is at the start of Level 11 at the start of Day 2.

For those new to the game, there are some changes to the format in 6+ Hold'em. Each player will post an ante, and only the button posts a blind. The left of the button will be first to act. All of the 2 to 5's are removed to make a total deck just 36 cards. A flush beats a full house, and just like in regular Hold'em an Ace can play high or lower, meaning that while the highest straight is still T-J-Q-K-A, the lowest straight is now: A-6-7-8-9.

Here is the format for Day 1:
