Both players had almost identical kickers, but the flop and the turn ensured that this would be vital. A cruel on the river improved Ruzicka to a pair of eights and Haxton was eliminated.
Patrick Leonard had shoved from the small blind not long ago after a limp by Leon Tsoukernik on the button and forced a fold.
One orbit later, Koray Aldemir raised to 35,000 in the cutoff and Tsoukernik cpalled on the button. Leonard then shoved from the small blind for 354,000 and the action folded back to Aldemir. After brief consideration, he announced all in and Tsoukernik folded.

The board ran out and the defending champion of this very event was eliminated. Tsoukernik shook hands with O'Dwyer and even apologized for busting him.

One hand later, Isaac Haxton was the single big blind and joked "just a single big blind, not even worth stealing." Tsoukernik limped in and Vojtech Ruzicka moved all in for exactly 150,000 from the button. Haxton folded and Tsoukernik quickly tossed in a single chip for the call.

The board ran out and Ruzicka rivered a straight for the second time today to double up for his tournament life.
Action folded to Konstantin Uspenskiy in the cutoff and he opened to 25,000 with 281,000 behind. Timothy Adams folded his button but small blind Daniel Dvoress had bigger plans and three-bet to 80,000. Mustapha Kanit folded his big blind, action was back on Konstantin Uspenskiy. He tanked for a bit before moving all in for 306,000. Dvoress called instantly.

The gave Uspenskiy an extra out but he wouldn't hit it. The on the turn was effectively a blank and the on the river wasn't one of the cards he was looking for either.
Juha Helppi raised to 26,000 from the cutoff and Mikita Badziakouski moved all in for 112,000 from the small blind. Jean-Noel Thorel in the big blind also announced all in and Helppi folded his face up.

The flop of improved Badziakouski to a set of tens, and the completed a full house for the Belarusian. The then fell as final community card to give Thorel a higher full house and he jumped up from his massage to celebrate, causing everyone at the table to smile. Even Badziakouski was smiling in defeat when he shook hands with Thorel and exited the tournament area.
Action folded to Jean-Noel Thorel in the cutoff and he opened to 46,000. Alexandros Kolonias, on the button, tanked for a bit before he announced all-in for about 160,000. Ben Heath folded his small blind right away, Ali Reza Fatehi needed some more time to let go of his big blind but eventually did fold too. Thorel called right away.

The flop just about sealed the deal for Thorel and he had Kolonias drawing dead on the -turn. The on the river was there just to make things official.
"I made mistake," Thorel said while raking in the chips.
Fatehi was happy Thorel had made the mistake of opening a bit bigger than usual, as he claimed to have folded pocket eights before the flop.
With the exit of Kolonias, the tournament is now down to 24 players. Redraw information is to follow.

From under the gun, Ali Reza Fatehi raised to 19,000 and the action folded to Orpen Kisacikoglu. He pushed for 149,000 and the rest of the table folded back to Fatehi, who called.

The prize pool information has just been released by the tournament organizers. A total of 39 unique players entered, and 10 of them needed a reentry to make for a total of 49 entries. The total prize pool is €2,352,735, a little down to last year's total prize pool of € 2,716,000 (46 + 10).
Viacheslav Buldygin opened the action with a raise to 13,000 and Max Silver three-bet to 38,000 from the button with a stack just shy of 200,000 in total. The players in the blinds got out of the way and Buldygin then moved all in, Silver called it off and had a flip for his tournament life.
