The starting field of 816 entrants is down to just 24 players, each with hopes of outlasting the field and capturing this prestigious title, as well as collecting the hefty first-place prize of $1,491,580. On top of the chip counts by a solid margin is Eugenio Mattar with 2,673,000. Rounding out the top five is Emrak Cakmak (2,037,000), Chance Kornuth (2,026,000), Andreas Samuelsson (1,628,000) and Pratyush Buddiga (1,624,000).
Others still in the field include last years sixth-place Main Event finisher Shyam Srinivasan (1,310,000), Maurice Hawkins (962,000), Jim Collopy (799,000), Rami Boukai (769,000), Dylan Linde (709,000), Scott Baumstein (543,000), Tim Reilly (511,000), Mayu Roca (303,000), Felipe Ramos (282,000) and Noah Schwartz (238,000), to name a few.

Diego Ventura opened from the cutoff and Maurice Hawkins defended from the big blind and the two saw a flop of . Hawkins led out for 25,000 and Ventura called.
The turn was the and Hawkins bet again, this time for 83,000, and was called by Ventura.
The river was the and this time Hawkins slowed down, checking it over to Ventura. After a moment of thought, Ventura slid a little more than two stacks of the blue T5,000 chips forward for a total bet of 220,000. Hawkins snap-called and Ventura turned over for a flopped full house.
Hawkins mucked claiming he had the nut flush and then started laughing.
"Oh my my my," mutters Hawkins. He repeats that.
"Oh man. Come on man. Come on," continued Hawkins.
"I don't know if I'm supposed to be happy or sad. I guess sad. If flush didn't come I fold."
Hawkins dropped to 600,000 with that loss while Ventura moved up to 1,550,000.

Diego Ventura opened to 51,000 in the hijack, Ratharam Sivagnanam three-bet to 135,000 on the button, Ventura four-bet to 380,000, Sivagnanam five-bet to 560,000 and Ventura six-bet jammed for about 1.31 million effective.

The action started with Emrah Cakmak opening for 55,000. Andreas Samuelsson called from the button and both players in the blinds folded. The flop came and Cakmak led out for 65,000 and was called by Samuelsson.
The turn was the and Cakmak leaned forward to get a better view of the board. He then bet 150,000. Samuelsson looked back at his cards, glanced at the dealer, thought for a moment and then made the call.
The river was the and this time Cakmak pushed forward a large stack of T5,000 blue chips, forty of them to be precise, with three T25,000 chips stacked on top for a total bet of 275,000. Samuelsson gathered the chips to make the call in his hand, looking hesitant the entire time, almost seeming as if he wants to fold. He doesn't though.
Cakmak turned over for the turned nine-high straight and it's good as Samuelsson mucked.
