Huge Double for Kravchenko

Nível 11 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Team PokerStars Pro Alex Kravchenko just scored a massive double after flopping the nuts.

We arrived on the scene with four players in the pot, about 12,000 in the middle, and a flop reading {5-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{9-Diamonds}. Russian Mikhail Korotkikh was first to act in the small blind and he made a big over-shove of around 100,000. Kravchenko was next to act in the big blind and promptly called off for 79,800, and the other two players got out of the way.

Korotkikh: {k-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}
Kravchenko: {8-Hearts}{7-Clubs}

Korotkikh had way overbet the pot with his flush draw, and he paid the price as Kravchenko had flopped the nuts. Neither the {5-Clubs} turn nor {K-Clubs} river delivered Korotkikh a diamond, and he sent the majority of his stack to one of the toughest players in the room.

Pinho Busts Gruissem

Nível 11 : 600/1,200, 200 ante
Philipp Gruissem
Philipp Gruissem

From middle position Team PokerStars Pro Henrique Pinho raised it up to 2,500. Behind him it was German super star Philipp Gruissem making the three bet to 5,600. Action folded back to Pinho who inquired how high Gruissem's stacks were. Gruissem told his Portuguese opponent he had about 40,000 behind and Pinho made the call.

{Q-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}

Pinho checked to Gruissem who checked behind. There would be action on the {4-Diamonds} though. Pinho bet out 5,100 and Gruissem made the call.

The {J-Spades} fell on the river and Pinho bet out 17,000. Gruissem thought for a little bit and announced he was all in. As fast as Pinho called, Gruissem might already have expected his {Q-Clubs}{Q-Spades} was not the best hand anymore. Pinho indeed showed a better hand as he was the proud owner of {9-Hearts}{10-Hearts} for the rivered straight.

"All right, good luck guys" said Gruissem as he got up from the table, grabbed his characteristic leather jacker and made his way to the exit.

Chen Makes Hansen Fold

Nível 11 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

On the {2-Spades}{5-Clubs}{7-Clubs} flop we just caught Gus Hansen call a 5,300-chip bet from Canadian pro Andrew Chen in position. The turn brought the {2-Diamonds} and both players checked.

The river brought the {2-Clubs} and Chen lead out for 9,000. Hansen mumbled, looked back down at his cards and threw them into the muck.

Trickett Running Pure

Nível 11 : 600/1,200, 200 ante
Sam Trickett
Sam Trickett

Sam Trickett had called a shove from a short stack for 13,600. Sat behind him was Age Spets who re-shoved for 40,000. Folded round to Trickett who asked for a count and made the call.

The short stack had {3-Clubs}{3-Hearts}, Trickett had {9-Clubs}{9-Hearts} and Spets had {q-Diamonds}{q-Spades}.

The board ran out {9-Spades}{6-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{7-Hearts} and Trickett spiked his set on the flop to eliminate two players.

Michael Telker, on the same table with a constant stream of chatter commented to Spets, “Wait, you had the best hand he gets all the chips? That’s so unfair.”

“I’m just running so pure.” Was Trickett’s trademark reply.

95 Skrillees Remained in Last Longer Competition at the Start of Day 2

Nível 11 : 600/1,200, 200 ante
Skrill Last Man Standing promo
Skrill Last Man Standing promo

Registration is now closed for the Skrill Last Longer in Vienna. On Day 1a, 62 players signed up for the competition, and on Day 1b 98 more joined them. That brought the total number of participants up to 160 players, but only 95 of them started Day 2 (see full list below).

The Skrill Last Longer competition is being held at each stop on this season’s EPT, of which they’re an official sponsor. The promotion is simple – players sign up for the promotion either online (preregistration is available) or at the Skrill booth (which will be present at each stop); don a Skrill patch; and then aim to be the last man or woman standing. The last player remaining will then receive their buy-in back via their Skrill account.

While Skrill is upping the ante for Season 10 with a bigger branding initiative, this isn’t their first appearance on the EPT; as a matter of fact, they were a sponsor of Season 8 and have held previous “Last Longer” promotions.

The company’s website provides a bit more information on Skrill, which rebranded from Moneybookers back in 2010:

“Skrill has been moving money digitally since 2001. We offer online payment solutions for businesses and consumers, allowing them to pay and get paid globally. Over 36 million account holders already trust Skrill. Our customers can send and receive money worldwide in 200 countries and 40 currencies, securely and at low cost, without revealing their personal financial details. Your business will benefit from our worldwide payment network with over 100 payment options. Whether through a simple one-step integration or a fully-tailored payment solution. Whoever you are, however you like to pay or get paid, trust Skrill to make your online payments simpler, faster and safer.”

Headquartered in London, Skrill is looking to make their presence known in the poker world with a commitment to customer satisfaction through innovation and service. Not only that, they’re looking to be more than just a company by becoming a trusted and respected member of the poker community.

A Very Effective Check Raise

Nível 11 : 600/1,200, 200 ante
Michael Tabarelli
Michael Tabarelli

The board read {J-Hearts}{9-Spades}{4-Hearts}{4-Spades} when we picked up the action, as Michael Tabarelli was facing a check-raise. Tabarelli had 14,600 out in front of him while the man on his direct right, had put in 32,000.

Tabarelli pondered for a bit before ultimately calling Halil Baybars' check-raise.

On the river the {Q-Hearts} hit and Baybars decided to check again, after which Tabarelli fired out 22,000. Baybars went into the tank for about a minute before he moved all in, covering his opponent.

Tabarelli seemed shocked and he clearly had not anticipated this move as he went into the tank for about a minute. Ultimately Tabarelli let go of his hand and Baybars smiled as he raked in this big pot.

Pinho vs. Jouhkimainen

Nível 11 : 600/1,200, 200 ante
Henrique Pinho
Henrique Pinho

Joni Joukimainen opened for 2,600 and then called a three-bet from Team PokerStars Pro Henrique Pinho, who was sitting on the button. Both players then checked the {k-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} flop as well as the {5-Diamonds} turn, and then Jouhkimainen check-called a bet of 5,000 on the {6-Hearts} river.

Pinho tabled the {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades} for top pair, and it was good as Jouhkimainen sent his cards to the muck.
