Pflock Doubles Through Stanford

Nível 7 : 300/600, 100 ante

With around 10,000 already in the pot and the board showing {3-Spades}{j-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{a-Spades} Pascal Pflock checked from the big blind before Luke Stanford splashed out 15,000. The bet was matched before both players watched the {9-Diamonds} complete the board.

Pflock checked once more only to see Stanford reach for his chips and slide out all his 5,000-chips totaling 60,000. The bet had Pflock covered, as he contemplated over his tournament life, with 37,000 behind.

Minutes passed before Pflock let out a sigh and slid in some chips signaling a call.

"You got it," said Stanford. "King-high," he added, before mucking his hand.

Pflock's {a-Clubs}{q-Spades} was then tabled giving him the winning hand with a pair of aces.

Salter Wins a Small One

Nível 7 : 300/600, 100 ante

Jack Salter has seen his stack dwindle over the last level but he has just taken down a small pot against Erik Seidel to stem the bleeding.

Preflop action folded around to Seidel on the button who opened for 1,400 and Salter elected to defend his big blind and made the call.

The flop came down {9-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{10-Hearts} with both players checking it through to the {8-Diamonds} turn and the {3-Diamonds} river before Salter led out for 1,700. Seidel mulled it over before tossing in the call, subsequently mucking when Salter flipped over {a-Hearts}{10-Spades} to take down the pot and climb to 27,500 while Seidel dropped to 86,000.

Dan Shak Eliminated

Nível 7 : 300/600, 100 ante

Dan Shak has hit the rail some time ago. His former table mate Felix Stephensen told us that Shak was down to just five big blinds when he shoved all in over a raise from the player in seat two. A player behind him isolated with jacks and beat Shak's ace-four to send the rounded poker aficionado packing.

Obrestad Exits

Nível 7 : 300/600, 100 ante

We arrived at the table just in time to see Annette Obrestad’s final hand.

The cards in the middle were spread {10-Spades}{5-Spades}{2-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} and Obrestad had {a-Diamonds}{8-Spades} in front of her. Unfortunately for the Norwegian that was no good against her opponent’s {k-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}.

Obrestad leaves us halfway through the final level of the day.

Ingham Busts Kornuth to Double

Nível 7 : 300/600, 100 ante
Chance Kornuth
Chance Kornuth

Chance Kornuth has taken one too many it would seem and the US player has just busted at the hands of tablemate Sam Ingham.

We caught the action on a flop of {7-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} in a three-way pot just as Kornuth, sitting in the small blind, led out for 5,500 into what looked to be a pot of between 8,000-9,000.

The big blind folded over to Sam Ingham in the cutoff, who thought it over for a while before sliding out a raise to 20,000 in total.

After asking how much Ingham had behind – around 65,000 – Kornuth made the call and the dealer burned and turned the {10-Spades}.

This brought a check from Kornuth. Ingham took his time over the decision before announcing he was all-in.

“So sick…’ said Kornuth, ‘is a set of fives any good?”

“I don’t think I can fold…”

Kornuth looked pained by the decision at hand, looked to be leaning towards a call, then a fold before eventually stacking up his chips and moving them into the middle.

Ingham tabled {6-Clubs}{4-Clubs} for the flopped straight, which was leading Kornuth’s {5-Spades}{5-Clubs} and with no pair up on the river Kornuth tapped the table, congratulated Ingham on the hand and headed for the rail. Ingham climbed to over 160,000 after that spot of good fortune and if he’s not the chip leader he is definitely in contention for the top spot.

Stephensen Hits the Rail

Nível 7 : 300/600, 100 ante

The action started with the player under the gun raising to 1,600 and finding a call from Sam Ingham on the button. Felix Stephensen then moved all in for his remaining 9,700. The original raiser called and Ingham mucked.

Stephensen: {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}
Opponent: {a-Spades}{j-Clubs}

Stephensen was in great shape to double until the board ran out {8-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{3-Clubs} giving his opponent a straight on the turn and the winning hand.

Timoshenko Terminated

Nível 7 : 300/600, 100 ante

Yevgeniy Timoshenko had been nursing a short stack for quite some time but he couldn’t hold on as we approach the end of Day 1a.

Timoshenko was in the middle of ordering a drink when the action folded around to him in the small blind.

“Actually I’m not that confident I’ll still be here” he told the waiter and cancelled his order, before moving all in for roughly 5,000 in chips.

“I call” announced the big blind.

“You what?” Timoshenko asked with an unimpressed look. “Ah that’s a good hand, I see why you called” he continued after the big blind tabled {9-Spades}{9-Clubs}.

Timoshenko revealed the modest {8-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} and was in rough shape to keep his tournament alive.

The {2-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} improved Timoshenko’s opponent to top set and with just backdoor draws to remain in the running he couldn’t find a miracle as the {10-Spades} turn and {8-Hearts} river signalled the end of Timoshenko’s Aussie Millions Main Event.

Julius Colman Eliminated

Nível 7 : 300/600, 100 ante
Julius Colman
Julius Colman

Julius Colman, praised for his philanthropy, has just been eliminated.

He got his last 10,400 in on a flop of {5-Spades}{6-Clubs}{2-Clubs}. One player called, another folded. Colman had some catching up to do as his {6-Spades}{8-Hearts} was trailing the {6-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} of his opponent.

The {J-Hearts} on the turn and {10-Spades} on the river were cards Colman had no usage for and he made his way to the exit with just 13 minutes on the clock for the day.

Seidel Pushes Off Higgs, Bassat Nears 6-figure Mark

Nível 7 : 300/600, 100 ante

With the board reading {q-Spades}{k-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{7-Hearts} and around 6,000 in the pot Seidel bet the turn for 2,400 following a check from Sam Higgs in the big blind.

Higgs threw in the call and the dealer peeled off the {6-Spades} river. This brought another check from Higgs and a bet of 5,500 from Seidel.

Higgs flashed the {j-Diamonds} before folding but still has close to 100,000 in chips. Seidel climbed to around 86,000 after the hand.

Another player who is fast approaching the six-figure mark is Andrew Bassat who is currently sitting on 93,000.
