Salter Takes One From Seidel

Nível 6 : 250/500, 75 ante

Jack Salter has been busy as of late and his stack is much increased from the last time we walked passed his table. Salter recently padded it out still further at the expense of Erik Seidel.

We caught the action in a heads-up pot between Jack Salter and Erik Seidel on a flop of {2-Spades}{5-Hearts}{3-Hearts} with Salter sitting in the big blind and Seidel on the button.

Both players checked the flop and before Salter opened for 1,450, which looked to be a two-thirds pot-sized bet. Seidel doesn’t take long to fold and Salter took down the hand, climbing to 67,000 while Seidel dropped to around 69,000.

Timoshenko Dodges Danger

Nível 6 : 250/500, 75 ante
Yevgeniy Timoshenko
Yevgeniy Timoshenko

Yevgeniy Timoshenko hasn’t been able to get anything going here today, but a disciplined fold just saw him potentially save his tournament life.

After a tablemate opened to 2,500 for five times the big blind, Timoshenko had a dilemma to deal with from the small blind.

“I have the best hand I’ve had in hours” Timoshenko admitted to the opener.

“So do I” came the reply.

“I think I just have to lose the tournament no matter what… the way the day has gone” Timoshenko continued.

The two quipped back and forth but with the big blind still to act they were somewhat limited in what they could reveal. Ultimately Timoshenko found a fold and it proved to be a good one when the big blind folded too.

The initial raiser tabled {k-Spades}{k-Hearts} and let Timoshenko breathe a sigh of relief.

“Thank you,” Timoshenko said, “you’re a lovely gentleman.”

“Why don’t you two get a room?” joked a tablemate.

“Maybe we will” Timoshenko retorted with a laugh.

Vamplew Picks Off Bassat Bluff

Nível 6 : 250/500, 75 ante

We caught the action on the turn in a heads-up pot between Andrew Bassat and David Vamplew on a board reading {4-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{2-Spades}{7-Clubs} just as Vamplew led out for 3,000 into roughly 6,000.

Bassat, sitting in the big blind, made the call and the dealer peeled off the {j-Diamonds} river, bringing a 4,500 bet from Bassat and a quick call from Vamplew.

Bassat turned over {5-Spades}{9-Spades} for a missed straight draw meaning Vamplew’s {k-Spades}{k-Clubs} wins the pot and he climbed to 63,500 while Bassat fell to 43,500.

Jacobson Gets Paid

Nível 7 : 300/600, 100 ante

On a board of {5-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{A-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}, a player in middle position had checked and Martin Jacobson was all in for 17,050 from the cutoff. The Swede's opponent tanked for some time before he eventually called with {A-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}. Jacobson tabled {6-Hearts}{5-Hearts} for two pair.

All the WSOP champion needed to do was dodge a queen, king or ace and he would double. He did not only that but even made a full house on the river with the {5-Clubs} completing the board.

Burns Busts One

Nível 7 : 300/600, 100 ante

Australian Kahle Burns is fresh off a third place finish in the Asia Championship of Poker (ACOP) Main Event last November for $343,179 and he’s chipping up here after eliminating a tablemate.

Burns opened to 1,400 from under the gun and it folded around to the cutoff who moved all in for 11,350. After quickly double-checking the amount Burns made the call to put his opponent at risk.

Burns: {9-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}
Cutoff: {a-Hearts}{k-Spades}

It was a fair fight but the pocket nines would hold as the board ran out {q-Spades}{8-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}. After a tap of the table the man with big slick departed and Burns added more to his already healthy stack.
