Here Comes Lynskey with a Full Double Through Abernathy

Nível 22 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante
Alexander Lynskey
Alexander Lynskey

The stack of Alexander Lynskey just catapulted all the way to the top of the leaderboard, thanks two two small pots and then an absolutely huge one.

On the first hand, Lynskey limped in from the small blind, and Mikel Habb checked his option out of the big blind to see the flop come down {K-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}. Lynskey bet 22,000, and Habb folded.

On the next hand, Dylan Honeyman opened with a raise to 40,000 from under the gun. Lynskey reraised in the cutoff seat to 110,000, and play folded back to Honeyman. He also gave it up, and Lynskey won the pot.

Then, the big one happened, and here's how it went down.

Lynskey kept up his aggressive ways with a raise from the hijack seat to 40,000. Samantha Abernathy reraised to 85,000 out of the small blind, and Lynskey made the call to take the {K-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} flop. After Abernathy bet 95,000, Lynskey made the call.

The {A-Diamonds} was added to the board on fourth street, and Abernathy kept her foot on the gas with a bet of 225,000. Lynskey stuck around, and the two were delivered the {3-Diamonds} river card. Abernathy took a few moments before she looked at the dealer and announced that she was all in. Lynskey wasted little time in making the call, to which Abernathy responded by revealed her {A-Hearts}{A-Clubs} for top set. Unfortunately for her, Lynskey had the {K-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} for the nut flush and his hand was the winning one.

Upon counting the stacks, it was determined that Lynskey was all in on the river for 751,000. Abernathy sent over the chips to pay him off and dropped all the way down to about 215,000 in chips.

Martin Rowe Eliminated in 18th Place (AU$85,000)

Nível 22 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante
Martin Rowe - 18th Place
Martin Rowe - 18th Place

Martin Rowe opened for 45,000 from the button only to have Tony Dunst three-bet to 135,000 from the small blind. Rowe made the call and then called a bet of 115,000 on the {k-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{4-Clubs} flop. After the dealer burned and turned the {A-Diamonds}, Dunst led out for a hefty 400,000 and Rowe responded by moving all in for what looked to be 825,000. Dunst looked back at his cards one last time and then made the call.

Rowe: {10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}
Dunst: {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs}

Dunst held top two pair, but Rowe was drawing live both a diamond and nine. It was a massive pot, and the dealer burned one last time before putting out the {2-Clubs}. Rowe missed and hit the rail in 18th place for an AU$85,000 payday.

Derek Wolters Eliminated in 17th Place (AU$85,000)

Nível 23 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante
Derek Wolters
Derek Wolters

Tony Dunst opened to 55,000 from first position and Derek Wolters three-bet to 150,000 from the button. Both blinds quickly released and action was back on Dunst. The WPT host four-bet to 375,000.

Wolters thought about it for half a minute or so, and moved all in for just over 1.2 million. Dunst leaned a bit forward, took a peek at his cards one last time, and said "Yeah, I call."

Derek Wolters: {J-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}
Tony Dunst: {Q-Spades}{Q-Hearts}

The flop came {2-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{Q-Clubs} leaving Wolters just runner runner outs. The {4-Spades} on the turn sealed the deal right away and the {K-Clubs} on the river made things official.

Derek Wolters shook Tony Dunst's hand, wished him good luck in the rest of the tournament, and headed to the pay out desk to collect his AU$85,000 cheque.

Tino Lechich Eliminated in 16th Place (AU$85,000)

Nível 23 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante
Tino Lechich
Tino Lechich

Wow!

That's the following hand summed up in one word, as Kitty Kuo, Alexander Lynskey, and Tino Lechich just played one of the biggest pots of the tournament that ended with an epic river card.

The action started with a shove from Lechich, who pushed 349,000 into the middle from the hijack seat. Kuo called from the small blind, and then the action was on Lynskey in the big blind.

"All in," Lynskey announced.

Kuo went into the tank for about half a minute before making the call to create a pot just shy of 3.5 million in chips.

Lynskey: {K-Spades}{K-Hearts}
Kuo: {A-Spades}{K-Diamonds}
Lechich: {A-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}

The flop brought {2-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{3-Spades}, and Lynskey stood up to look over at his friends on the rail in amazement of the massive pot. On the turn, the {J-Spades} hit, and Lynskey stayed in front.

Only one of the two remaining aces would help Kuo stay in the tournament, and Lechich already found himself drawing dead.

The {A-Hearts} hit on the river, and Kuo cheered while Lynskey stumbled back to his seat.

"It's exactly the same as last year," Lynskey sighed to Dylan Honeyman across the table of him.

Things were indeed very similar last year for Lynskey, when he got crippled after James Rann hit a river card to stay alive against him. Lynskey busted in ninth place in last year's Aussie Millions Main Event, and right now he's still in the tournament with 16 players remaining.

Meanwhile Lechich made his exit, and with that the tournament lost one of its most experienced players. Lechich's live tournament results date back to 1988, and he first cashed at Crown in 2003.

Mikel Habb Eliminated in 15th Place (AU$85,000)

Nível 23 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante
Mikel Habb
Mikel Habb

Dylan Honeyman just raised to 50,000 and the action just folded to Mike Habb in the small blind and he made it 112,000, saying, "Oops, I wanted to call," on Samantha Abernathy's big blind.

"It's a raise, sir," the dealer announced.

Abernathy then moved all in, which was enough to cover Habb who had about 400,000 chips left, and Habb went into the tank, putting his head in his hand.

After a while Habb called, and slammed {K-Hearts}{K-Spades} onto the table.

Abernathy was in bad shape holding {6-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}, and the flop brought out {Q-Spades}{9-Hearts}{10-Spades}.

Habb, up to his usual antics screaming and cheering for himself, pointed at the sky while waiting for the turn.

The turn brought the {10-Hearts}, and Habb kept his arm aloft, but that quickly changed when the {6-Spades} shattered his dreams.

Abernathy jumped up out of her seat, and ran over to hug Kitty Kuo, while Habb was left in disbelief.

Habb shook everyone's hand before leaving the tournament room, and we'll forever remember him as the man who made the 2016 Aussie Millions Main Event very entertaining.

Cankai Zhang Eliminated in 12th Place (AU$120,000)

Cankai Zhang - 12th Place
Cankai Zhang - 12th Place

Up at the feature table, action folded to Tony Dunst on the button and he raised to 65,000. Cankai Zhang thought for a moment in the small blind and then announced himself all in for 785,000. Samantha Abernathy folded the big blind and Dunst snap-called.

Dunst: {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}
Zhang: {10-Diamonds}{10-Spades}

Zhang's face dropped upon seeing Dunst's pocket rockets. Zhang needed a ten of some other help to stay alive, but the {q-Clubs}{8-Spades}{6-Hearts} flop didn't do it, aside from giving him some runner-runner straight options. The {6-Clubs} turn took those away, and that left Zhang in need of a ten and a ten only on the river.

The dealer burned one last time and put out the {J-Hearts}. Zhang missed and made his way to the payout desk to collect AU$120,000 for his 12th-place finish.

Ari Engel raised to 65,000 under the gun and KC Wong right next to him in the hijack made the call. James Obst on the button pushed all in for 190,000 total and both blinds quickly released.

Action was back on Ari Engel and he four-bet to 310,000 (what should have been 315,000) and the decision was on Wong. Wong tanked for some time before folding.

Ari Engel: {A-Spades}{8-Clubs}
James Obst: {K-Clubs}{J-Hearts}

The board ran out {8-Spades}{3-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}{J-Spades} and Obst was already on his way to shake hands with Engel after the turn had him drawing dead. The local hero has been eliminated, picking up AU$120,000 for his deep run.

At the outer table, KC Wong opened for 90,000 from the cutoff and Yuki Ko three-bet jammed from the button. When action reached Bobby Zhang in the big blind, he looked down at his cards and announced that he was all in, calling off for right around 900,000. Wong quickly folded and the cards were turned up.

Zhang: {q-Spades}{q-Hearts}
Ko: {a-Diamonds}{10-Spades}

Zhang was looking to dodge an ace or some other strange runout, and he did on the {5-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{2-Hearts} flop. Unfortunately for him, the dealer burned and turned the {A-Hearts} to pair Ko. The {J-Spades} river was no help to Zhang, and he hit the rail in tenth place.

Ko thought for a long time before betting 655,000, which left him about 800,000 behind. Engel paused for a few beats before announcing himself all in, and Ko called to discovered the bad news.

Engel: {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}
Ko: {k-Hearts}{k-Clubs}

Ko was on the bad end of a cooler, and the final card he'd see in the 2016 Aussie Millions Main Event was the useless {6-Diamonds} river.
