Jacobson's Stack Soars, Mandredini's Stack Diminishes

Marcelo Manfredini started out quite well as he busted Antonio Esfandiari in one of his first hands at the table. It hasn't been going so great ever since, as he has since lost back those chips, and then some.

Just now we saw him check call a bet of 15,000 on from the cutoff. It was Martin Jacobson on the button making the bet, and the Swedish WSOP champion bet another 35,000 after Manfredini checked to him on the river. Manfredini made the call, but couldn't beat Jacobson's .

The next hand Brian Rast made it 2,300 from early position. His neighbor Manfredini made the call and Jacobson squeezed to 8,500 from the cutoff. Rast made the call and Manfredini instantly called as well. Both Rast and Manfredini checked on and only Rast called Jacobson's 16,000 continuation bet - Manfredini folded. Rast then check folded to Jacobson's second bullet worth 28,000 on the turn.

Jacobson is doing well with well over twice the starting stack. Marcelo Manfredini isn't doing too good, he has about half starting stack.

Marcelo Manfredini limped in from the cutoff for 1,000 and the button and small blind both folded. David Peters in the big blind raised to 4,000 and Manfredini came over the top for 12,000 total. Peters made the call.

The flop came and Peters check called a bet of 12,000. The on the turn and on the river saw both players check and Manfredini was asked to show first. He tabled for a pair of fives. That hand came up short as Peters had for the higher flopped pair.

Antonio Esfandiari Bluffs It All

In the last hand before the break it was Martin Jacobson who opened under the gun. His next door neighbor, Antonio Esfandiari, made the call, and so did Stephen Chidwick (button) and Marcelo Manfredini (big blind).

The flop came , and Manfredini checked to the initial raiser. Jacobson checked as well, and action was on Esfandiari. Esfandiari made a bet of 3,000, and Chidwick quickly released. Manfredini made the call, and Jacobson folded after giving it some thought.

The hit the turn, and Manfredini checked again. Esfandiari seemed determined and made a bet of 5,300. Manfredini wasted no time (or time breaker chips for that matter) and called.

The completed the board, and Manfredini checked a third time. Esfandiari shoved all in for his last 30,000, and Manfredini glanced over his glasses before casually making the call.

Esfandiari tabled the and Manfredini revealed his for the winner. Esfandiari was out, but he has the option to buy back in of course.

Tollerene the First to Fall But Promptly Reenters

Ben Tollerene was never able to recover after losing a big pot to Phil Ivey in Level 1; in fact, the online pro just became the first casualty of the tournament.

It happened when he opened for 1,400 from the cutoff and Fedor Holz pushed back with a three-bet to 4,600 from the small blind. Tollerene made the call and then called a bet of 3,300 on the flop. After the dealer burned and turned , Holz led out for 9,500 and Tollerene called.

The river saw Holz toss out two green T25,000 chips for a bet of 50,000, and Tollerene thought for a bit before calling off for 38,000 or so. Holz tabled the for top pair, and it was good as Tollerene showed the before exiting the stage.

Fortunately for Tollerene, this is a reentry event and he immediately opted to pony up another AU$100,000 to get back in action. Interestingly, he's back at the feature table, though this time in Seat 8.
