Balsiger Continues to Climb

Nível 6 : 250/500, 75 ante

We missed the action, but we do know that Jake Balsiger, who if you recall finished third in the 2012 World Series of Poker Main Event, just won a big pot to chip up to 140,000. The money appeared to have went in on a flop of {2-Hearts}{9-Spades}{q-Hearts} with Balsiger's {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs} well out in front of his opponent's {q-}{j-}. Neither the {8-Diamonds} turn nor {K-Hearts} river changed a thing, and Balsiger's stack continued to swell.

Hakim the Dream

Nível 6 : 250/500, 75 ante

Guillaume Rivet opened to 1,050 from early position, a player three-bet to 3,100 in the cutoff, and Rami Hakim cold four-bet to 6,500 on the button. Rivet folded, the three-bettor came along for the ride, and the flop came {6-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{7-Spades}.

The player check-called a bet of 8,500 from Hakim, both players checked when the {3-Spades} turned, and the pair knuckled after the {q-Clubs} completed the board. Hakim showed {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds} for a pair of kings, and his opponent mucked his hand.

Ebanks is King

Nível 6 : 250/500, 75 ante

The action folded to a player in the cutoff, who raised to 1,300. Joe Ebanks three-bet to 3,300 out of the small blind, the player called, and the flop fell {5-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}.

Ebanks led out for 3,100, the player called, and the turn was the {3-Hearts}.

The World Series of Poker bracelet winner led out again - this time for 8,000 - and again his opponent called.

The river was the {10-Diamonds}, bringing possible flushes and straights, and Ebanks checked the for the first time. His opponent immediately knuckled behind, then mucked when Ebanks showed {k-Hearts}{k-Clubs} for a pair of kings.

Rivet Pays It Off

Nível 6 : 250/500, 75 ante

Guillaume Rivet bet 3,300 on the turn with the board reading {A-Spades}{A-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{10-Spades}, and his lone opponent made the call. The {6-Spades} completed the board on the river, and Rivet fired 7,000. His opponent min-raised to 14,000, and Rivet made the call, although it was an uneasy call. The player showed the {10-Clubs}{10-Hearts}, and Rivet mucked his hand, unable to beat the full house.

Kiletto Surrenders on the Turn

Jeff Lisandro
Jeff Lisandro

Lily Kiletto checked to five-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner Jeff Lisandro on a flop of {8-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}. Lisandro fired out 2,000, Kiletto called, and the turn was a third diamond - the {3-Diamonds}.

Kiletto knuckled again, Lisandro quickly bet 5,500, and the American folded.

"I think you had seven-six," she told Lisandro.

He chuckled.

"Yeah?" he asked.

Lisandro Sent to the Rail Courtesy of Rahme

Jeff Lisandro

Jeff Lisandro has been nursing a short stack for the latter half of the night, and his time in the 2014 Aussie Millions recently came to an end courtesy of 2007 World Series of Poker third-place finisher Raymond Rahme.

We missed the details, but Lily Kiletto was kind enough to fill us in on the gist. According to her, Lisandro got in trouble when he defended his big blind with {q-}{5-}. That's because Rahme held aces, which held to send the Australian Poker Hall of Famer to the rail here in Level 6.

Set Over Set Turns Ugly

Nível 6 : 250/500, 75 ante

After a series of bets on the {k-Spades}{6-Spades}{3-Hearts} flop, Adam Monaghan was faced with an all-in bet of 34,000 from an opponent. Monaghan tanked for a considerable amount of time before calling, and both players showed a set.

Monaghan: {3-Spades}{3-Clubs}
Opponent: {k-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}

Monaghan was in rough shape, but the turn ({7-Spades}) and the river ({8-Spades}) were both spades, giving him a flush and eliminating his opponent from the Aussie Millions Main Event.

"NOOO!!!" the player yelped, disgusted with the river card.

Monaghan raked in the pot and is now flirting with six figures.

Ugly End for Divkovic

Nível 6 : 250/500, 75 ante

It was an ugly end for Bosnia's Dejan Divkovic, who you may recall won the 2013 PokerStars.net ANZPT Season 5 Perth last February for AU$114,000 and then nearly captured back-to-back titles when he finished runner-up to Dinesh Alt in the 2013 PokerStars.net ANZPT Sydney Main Event a month later.

Divkovic got his chips in holding the {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs} on a {q-Spades}{j-Hearts}{6-Spades} flop and was in great shape to double through Amir Minagar, who was in a bad spot with the {a-Spades}{k-Hearts}. Poker can be cruel, and Divkovic learned this when the dealer burned and turned the {10-Spades} to give a clearly excited Minagar a Broadway straight.

Divkovic was clearly disgusted and began to collect his things even before the dealer put out the {A-Hearts} on the river.
