Phaedonos' Turn to Double

Nível 26 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante
Andrew Phaedonos
Andrew Phaedonos

Well, that escalated quickly.

Scott Seiver open-shoved again - this time for around 800,000 in the cutoff - and Andrew Phaedonos called all in for less from the small blind.

Seiver: {k-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}
Phaedonos: {j-Diamonds}{j-Spades}

As we highlighted earlier, Phaedonos is the only Aussie at the final table, so his rail was up on their feet before the cards were on their backs. The {2-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} flop gave Seiver backdoor straight and flush draws to go along with his two over cards, and both draws remained live when the turn was the {10-Diamonds}.

“Too many outs!” someone yelled from the rail.

Phaedonos was amongst his brethren, pacing in between streets, and they all fell silent as the dealer rapped the table for a final time.

The {4-Spades} on the river was a brick, and Phaedonos’ rail exploded. The Aussie doubled through, while Seiver is back on the short stack.

Everyone Goes After a Big Three-Way Pot

Nível 27 : 30,000/60,000, 5,000 ante
Sorel Mizzi
Sorel Mizzi

Sorel Mizzi opened for 120,000 from early position and Scott Seiver called from the button. Ami Barer came along from the big blind and three players saw a flop of {j-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}. Barer checked, Mizzi bet 220,000, and Seiver called.

Barer then woke up with a check-raise to 485,000, both his opponents called, and the dealer burned and turned the {J-Clubs}. Barer slowed down with a check, Mizzi did the same, and Seiver came out with a bet of 435,000. Barer quickly folded, and then Mizzi sprung to life with an all-in check-raise. Seiver, who only had 800,000 or so behind, snap-folded.

Rabinowitz Cracks Kings to Double Big

Nível 27 : 30,000/60,000, 5,000 ante
Darren Rabinowitz
Darren Rabinowitz

Ami Barer opened for 120,000 and received a call from Andrew Phaedonos. Darren Rabinowitz then moved all in from the small blind, the big folded, and Barer wasted little time in making the call. Phaedonos got out of the way and the cards were turned up.

Barer: {k-Clubs}{k-Hearts}
Rabinowitz: {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}

Phaedonos informed his friends on the rail that he had folded an ace, which meant there were just two left in the deck. The odds were against Rabinowitz, but that didn't stop him from taking the lead when the {5-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{a-Clubs} flop delivered him one of those aces.

Rabinowitz's rail, which includes reigning World Series of Poker Main Event champ Ryan Riess, went wild for their man while Phaedonos' rail, who are no doubt hoping their man would move up the pay ladder, were vocally disappointed.

Neither the {5-Spades} turn nor {2-Spades} river changed a thing and Rabinowitz doubled through Barer.

Phaedonos Doubles in Last Hand Before Dinner

Nível 27 : 30,000/60,000, 5,000 ante
Andrew Phaedonos
Andrew Phaedonos

Vincent Rubianes opened with a raise only to have a short-stacked Andrew Phaedonos three-bet all in from the big blind. Rubianes made the call and the cards were turned up.

Phaedonos: {a-Spades}{k-Hearts}
Rubianes: {q-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}

Phaedonos was ahead, and he took a hammerlock on the hand when the {3-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{a-Clubs} flop delivered him an ace. The {4-Spades} turn left Rubianes drawing dead, and after the {9-Hearts} was run out on the river, Phaedonos was pushed the pot.

We'll have updated counts for you shortly.

Scott Seiver Eliminated in 7th Place (AU$170,000)

Nível 28 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante
Scott Seiver - 7th Place
Scott Seiver - 7th Place

It's taken nearly three hours of play, but we've finally had our first elimination.

It happened when Darren Rabinowitz opened for 160,000 and was met by an all-in three-bet of just over a million by Scott Seiver from the button. Both blinds folded, Rabinowitz called, and it was off to the race.

Seiver: {8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}
Rabinowitz: {a-Spades}{10-Diamonds}

According to the PokerNews Odds Calculator, Seiver was a slight 55.24% favorite while Rabinowitz would win 44.40% of the time. Unfortunately for Seiver, this was one of those time as the flop came down {a-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{k-Spades} to pair Rabinowitz's ace and make him an 86.36% favorite.

The {3-Hearts} turn was a good card for Seiver as it gave him a 25% chance of hitting his flush, but it was not meant to be as the {J-Clubs} blanked on the river. Seiver was eliminated in seventh place for AU$170,000.

Andrew Phaedonos Eliminated in 6th Place (AU$250,000)

Nível 28 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante
Andrew Phaedonos - 6th Place
Andrew Phaedonos - 6th Place

Darren Rabinowitz opened the action for 160,000 and Andrew Phaedonos made the call. Chip leader Sorel Mizzi then three-bet to 450,000, Rabinowitz folded, and Phaedonos shoved all in for roughly half a million. Mizzi snap-called and Phaedonos discovered the bad news.

Phaedonos: {q-Clubs}{j-Clubs}
Mizzi: {k-Hearts}{k-Clubs}

Phaedonos' rail were on their collective feat to watch the fate of the local Melbourne player. They began calling for a club, but there were silenced when the flop came down {3-Spades}{5-Clubs}{k-Spades} to give Mizzi top set. The {A-Diamonds} turn gave them some hope as Phaedonos could make a straight with a ten, but lady luck refused to smile upon him and instead the {5-Hearts} completed the board.

Phaedonos' supporters were disappointed, but they gave their man a nice round of applause nonetheless. With that, the last Australian was eliminated from the tournament, which means there will be an Aussie Millions winner from North America for the first time.

Vincent Rubianes Eliminated in 5th Place (AU$335,000)

Nível 29 : 50,000/100,000, 10,000 ante
Vincent Rubianes - 5th Place
Vincent Rubianes - 5th Place

Darren Ribinowitz opened with a raise from the button only to have Vincent Rubianes three-bet all in from the small blind. The big folded, Ribinowitz snap-called and the cards were turned up/

Ribinowitz: {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}
Rubianes: {k-Clubs}{j-Clubs}

Rubianes had picked the wrong spot and in was in dire straits. The {6-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} flop gave Rubianes a jack, but it also put a pair of sixes on board. That meant Rubianes would need to catch another jack to overcome Ribinowitz's aces and sixes. The {8-Diamonds} turn wasn't what he was looking for and neither was the {3-Clubs} river.

Rubianes was eliminated in fifth place and exited to the loving arms of his supporters on the rail.

Darren Rabinowitz - 4th Place
Darren Rabinowitz - 4th Place

Darren Rabinowitz opened for 240,000 under the gun and Ami Barer responded by three-betting from the button. The blinds both folded, Rabinowitz moved all in, and Barer snap-called.

Barer: {9-Diamonds}{9-Spades}
Rabinowitz: {5-Diamonds}{5-Spades}

Rabinowitz's rail, which included Joe Kuether, Ryan Riess, and Bryan Campanello, were on their feet and calling for a five. The {j-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{2-Spades} flop didn't do it, but it opened up some runner-runner possibilities.

"Any two across is good," Campanello bellowed. Indeed it would have been, but it was the three-across {6-Clubs} that opened up the gutshot straight draw possibility. Unfortunately for Rabinowitz and his supporters, the {A-Diamonds} blanked on the river to send him home in fourth place for AU$450,000.

Jake Balsiger Eliminated in 3rd Place (AU$650,000)

Nível 30 : 60,000/120,000, 10,000 ante
Jake Balsiger - 3rd Place
Jake Balsiger - 3rd Place

The United States will have to wait at least another year to bring home the Aussie Millions Main Event title, as Jake Balsiger has exited in third place at the hands of Ami Barer.

Balsiger min-raised to 240,000 on the button, Barer three-bet to what looked like 575,000 from the small blind, and the American four-bet to 1.175 million. Barer five-bet ripped, moving all in for effectively five million or so, and Balsiger snap-called.

Balsiger: {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}
Barer: {a-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}

Balsiger was in great shape to double up and take the chip lead, but his odds of winning the hand dipped when the dealer fanned {9-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{7-Clubs}, giving Barer eight extra outs to make a straight.

"Always a sweat!" someone yelled from the rail.

The turn was the {5-Clubs}, bringing a third club, and it reduced Barer's outs to eight because Balsiger held the only club.

The {6-Hearts} completed the board, giving both players a straight, but Barer's ten gave him the winning hand and eliminated Balsiger in third place.

With that massive hand, Barer heads into heads-up play with a three-to-one chip lead against Sorel Mizzi.
