The players are back in their seats and ready for more here at the APPT Cebu Main Event. It's ante time, so expect the action to pick up as we continue into the afternoon.
Following the events of “Black Friday” last year, a lot of Americans were forced to relocate in order to continue playing online poker. That concept suited American Carter Gill to a tee as he was more than happy to float around Asia and enjoy, shall we say, the “perks” of the relatively cheap Asian lifestyle.
It also means that Gill is one of the few Americans in today’s field and we just caught him rake in a nice pot to increase his stack. We arrived on the river with the board reading and a 4,300-chip bet in front of the player in the small blind.
After a few moments of posturing, Gill flicked out two yellow chips to signal a raise to 10,000. The small blind thought briefly before conceding the pot.
“I turned a set,” chirped Gill as he flashed to move up to 36,000.

We recently watched Octavian Voegele lose a couple of thousand chips when he floated a flop in a raised pot and then folded to a bet on the turn.
Just a few moments after we left Voegele's table and he would again be involved in a hand, except this time the pot would be sent his way.
By the time we got the table a board was showing and one player had checked to Voegele. There was more than 5,000 already in the pot and Voegele decided to bet 3,500. This amount got his opponent thinking, but would eventually fold and send this nice little pot to Veogele.
Voegele, who took down the ANZPT Adelaide event last year, and will be looking for more success here in Cebu.

Claudia Yum is a recent casualty from the APPT Cebu Main Event as the players slowly start to drop away. It was recalled to us that Yum committed her last chips with on a jack-high, three-diamond flop. With top pair and the nut flush draw, it was a pretty strong holding, but unfortunately her opponent had already flopped a flush.
Yum couldn’t find another diamond to save herself and was sent to an early exit.

We’re not sure how the pot developed, but we were called over to the table of Grant Levy when he was put to a big decision by fellow Aussie Jacky Wang on an interesting board of . With a straight on board, but dangerous flush possibilities, Wang had moved all in to force the 2007 APPT Sydney champion to a major decision for most of his chips.
Levy took another look at his cards and sighed as he open folded his ace-king offsuit. Wang didn’t show as he raked in the pot to move to 23,000. Levy slips to 15,000.

The action was opened by Jesse McKenzie to 425 and only the player in the big blind would come along for the ride as the flop was dealt.
On the flop, McKenzie's opponent would lead for 550 and a call would see the hit the turn. This time McKenzie's opponent would check and McKenzie would throw out 700. It was back on McKenzie's opponent and he would instantly raise to 1,700. This bet would prompt McKenzie to get rid of his cards very quick as the pot was raked away from him.

Daniel Francis is now down to just two chips, followed a mistimed move in multi-way pot. The flop read and action checked to a late position player who bet 500. The small blind called before Francis took the opportunity to check-raise both of them to 2,000. The late position player thought long and hard before folding, but the small blind took the opportunity to now re-raise all in for a total of 4,675.
The price looked good, but a stunned Francis clearly didn’t have much showdown value. He slapped himself in the head a few times before sending his cards into the muck.
His last two chips, one yellow and one green, are worth just 5,025.
