Gouveia Takes Aggressive Line

A player in middle position opened to 3,500 and and was called by a player in late position as well as Elilton Gouveia out of the small blind.

Gouveia checked on the flop and the initial raiser continued for 3,000. That was enough to force the late position player out of the hand but Gouveia responded by jamming his last 24,500 into the middle. After some consideration, the middle position player let his hand go to send some chips Gouveia's way.

Paul Chauderson won a $250,000 Bounty during the Wynn Summer Classic

In the span of two years, Wynn Poker has made itself synonymous with the now incredibly popular Mystery Bounty format. Kicking off once in the money, the bounty prize pool of a Mystery Bounty tournament is divided into an array of prizes, adding an exciting component throughout the day as people are looking to reel in a big score by picking the right bounty envelope.

In last night's $2,200 Mystery Bounty, part of the Wynn Summer Classic, a total of 2,854 entries showed up divided over four starting flights. Just over 300 returned for Day 2, looking for their shot at some big money that included a top prize of nearly half a million dollars, as well as two $250,000 Mystery Bounties as the grand prize in the bounty portion of the event.

Dinner Break

The remaining players have been sent on a 60-minute dinner break. They will return to blinds of 1,000/1,500 with a 1,500 big blind ante. Once play resumes at 7:30 p.m, the late registration period will be officially closed and all players who subsequently bust will have to wait until the two remaining flights to fire another bullet.

Ensan Fires On All Streets

Hossein Ensan opened to 2,400 from under the gun and was called by the player on the button. The blinds got out of the way to send the two players heads-up to the flop.

Ensan continued for 1,800 on a flop of and received a call. He continued his aggression with a bet of 4,000 on the turn and once again was called.

The river did not persuade Ensan to slow down. On the contrary, he fired a third barrel, sizing up to 11,100 and eliciting a fold from his opponent.

Tardif Off to Rough Start

Patrick Tardif took his seat fairly late in the day and has struggled to get much momentum going. A player under the gun opened to 2,400 and was called by a player in the cutoff. Tardif then three-bet to 8,500 from the button only to see the under the gun player move all in. The cutoff player instantly mucked and Tardif, with no hesitation, followed suit to leave himself relatively short.

Retired NBA Star Paul Pierce Allegedly Won't Pay His Poker Debts

Boston Celtics legend Paul Pierce owes a poker home game host $180,000, according to a lawsuit filed, but is allegedly refusing to pay it back.

Stephen Carmona, per TMZ Sports, claims he hosted a private game at his house on January 27 and invited the NBA Hall of Famer, who is an avid but recreational poker player. He apparently gave Pierce a $150,000 loan to enter the high-stakes game with the promise of paying it back within seven days.

The lawsuit states that the retired basketball star only returned $10,000 of that money and then borrowed another $40,000 from Carmona to compete in a different game, but allegedly hasn't paid back any of that either. Pierce reportedly made around $200 million in salary and endorsement deals during his 17-year NBA career.
