Day 1b has come to an end in Event #15: €550 Colossus No-Limit Hold'em with 16 players advancing to Day 2. Colin Grunow leads them all with 431,000 chips.

Grunow, with only $2,974 in total live earnings so far, all obtained here at the King's Resort in Rozvadov, is looking for a deep run in this event to reach the first big score of his career.

The German player was in very good shape all day and started to build his stack early. He even busted Shaun Deeb and Anson Tsang in the same hand before the end of late registration, holding queens versus pocket trees for Deeb and king-jack offsuit for Tsang. All the chips went in the middle preflop and Tsang managed to find a king on the flop, however, Grunow found a runner-runner flush to continue his run.

The day started with around 30 entries but escalated to over 100 after the first break. By the end of late registration, there were a total of 196 entries to enter the field. After 18 levels, the day came to an end and saw Catalin Diac being eliminated on the very last end.

Bracelet winners Chris Ferguson (137,000) and Erik Cajelais (115,000) have also gained their ticket for day 2, which will be Saturday, November 3rd, at 3 p.m.

With 20 players being in the money, the field reduced itself quite fast and Robert Campbell, currently second in the WSOP Player of the Year race, busted close to the bubble when his pocket sixes felted against Giorgiy Skhulukhiia’s pocket sevens. Skhulukhiia, representing Russia, ended the day as the second stack with 317,000. He is closely followed in the counts by Spanish player Roberto Carrillo, with exactly 300,000 chips.

On the very first hand of hand-for-hand play, both Martin Kabrhel and Vladimir Peck found themselves all in and at risk and ended up busting to share the min-cash for €809.

Many familiar faces came and went on Day 1b, unable to get anything going their way. Daniel Negreanu was looking to add more points in the Player of the Year race but busted his two bullets. Georgios Vrakas, Viktor Blom and William Kassouf also made an appearance but didn’t find a bag tonight.

Carrillo Leaves Diac with Crumbs

Nível 18 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

The flop showed {k-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} in a raised pot when Catalin Diac bet 11,000. Roberto Carrillo tanked from the button and raised it to 41,000. Diac moved all-in for 135,000 and Carillo made the call.

Catalin Diac: {k-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}
Roberto Carrillo: {5-Hearts}{6-Hearts}

Diac had top pair but Carrillo hit the straight on the {8-Spades} turn and Diac was left with only 3,000 chips after the {4-Spades} landed on the river.

The hand after, Diac was all-in from the blinds with {7-Hearts}{3-Clubs} and against Erik Cajelais who held {a-Hearts}{k-Spades}. The board didn't bring anything to Diac who busted in 17th place.

D'Silva Pushed Out by Skhulukhiia

Nível 18 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Antonio Turrisi limped and John D'Silva sent his last 26,000 chips in the middle. Giorgiy Skhulukhiia called and so did Turrisi.

The flop came {5-Hearts}{j-Spades}{2-Hearts} and Turrisi check-folded after Skhulukhiia bet 25,000. D'Silva flipped over {10-Clubs}{10-Spades} but saw he was facing {k-Spades}{j-Hearts} for Skhulukhiia who had hit a pair of jacks.

The turn {3-Clubs} and river {6-Diamonds} didn't chang anything and D'Silva got eliminated in 18th place.

Kabrhel and Peck Share the Bubble

Nível 17 : 3,000/5,000, 5,000 ante
Martin Kabrhel
Martin Kabrhel

On the very first hand of hand-for-hand play, both Martin Kabrhel and Vladimir Peck found themselves all in and at risk. Kabrhel three-bet from the small blind to 80,000 a raise worth 13,000 from Eran Cohen situated in the cutoff. The latter moved all-in and Kabhrel called.

Kabrhel held {a-Clubs}{10-Hearts} for the best hand and was facing {j-Spades}{8-Spades} for Cohen, who managed to find a board {j-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}{k-Spades}, giving him two pair on the flop.

On the other table, Peck was all-in for his last 21,000 with {a-Spades}{q-Diamonds} and has been called by Colin Grunow who held {9-Spades}{5-Hearts}. The dealer fanned a board {8-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{5-Spades}{9-Clubs} and Grunow took down the pot with two pair.

Peck and Kabrhel went to the cashier to share the €809 min-cash.
