Winner, Winner!

Noah Schwartz
Noah Schwartz

We've just had our first two matches end simultaneously.

Over on Table 4, Noah Schwartz opened the pot to 15,000 from the button, and Bryn Kenney moved all in on a three-bet shove. Schwartz considered for a good long while, but he eventually made the call with a chance at the knockout. Kenney, though short-stacked, was well ahead.

Showdown
Schwartz: {A-Diamonds} {3-Diamonds}
Kenney: {A-Spades} {K-Diamonds}

One by one, the dealer placed the flop on board: {2-Diamonds}... {8-Spades}... {7-Diamonds}...

Schwartz flopped the flush draw, and he only needed one card to find it. The {9-Diamonds} dropped on fourth street, and Schwartz let out a quiet, "Sorry, Bryn." Kenney was drawing dead now, and the river {7-Clubs} was a mere formality. From this pairing, it's Schwartz moving on with 248,000 chips.

And at Table 2, Michael Mizrachi has just polished off the rest of Kent Lundmark. All the money got in on a {5-Diamonds} {4-Spades} {7-Spades} flop, and Mizrachi's {A-Spades} {6-Clubs} was ahead of Lundmark's {6-Diamonds} {9-Hearts}. The turn {6-Spades} and river {A-Clubs} did nothing to improve the latter's plight, and Mizrachi has advanced with a healthy stack of 564,000.

Seidel Fails To Show

Nível 18 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Erik Seidel has yet to take his seat and is currently being blinded away in his match against Brian Hastings. The dealer on their table has been instructed to take one small blind and one big blind every alternate minute. We have figured out that Seidel will be blinded off in around 3.5 hours!

Sit Down; Heads Up

Jason Mercier has his eyes on another bracelet
Jason Mercier has his eyes on another bracelet

Welcome back to Cannes for the start of a small but exciting day of action here inside the Hotel Barrière. There are only two events on the docket today, and a total of 52 players in the building. Sixteen of those are here for the Event #5 restart, and they have all made the money in the first-ever WSOP Mixed-Max event.

Today begins the heads-up portion of this event, and Tables 1-4 are set up with a pair of heads-up matches apiece. The remaining field is absolutely stacked with talent, and bracelet winners (and household names) Erik Seidel, Jason Mercier, Michael Mizrachi are looking to add to their WSOP trophy case.

We'll play the Rounds of 16 and 8 today, finishing up with just four players left by the time it's all said and done for the day. The first flight kicks off at 3:00 P.M., in just about a half hour, and the quarterfinal round is tentatively scheduled for 8:00. We're still waiting for the table draw, and we understand it will be randomized sometime just before play. We'll bring you the fight card as soon as we know the lineup.

Don't wander off. It's heads-up day, and it's going to be a good one.
