Seidel Trips Up Roumeliotis

Erik Seidel
Erik Seidel

From the button, Alexander Roumeliotis raised to 4,500. Eight-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner Erik Seidel called from the big blind to see the flop come down {10-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{6-Clubs}. Both players checked and the turn brought the {7-Diamonds} to pair the board.

On the turn, Seidel checked and Roumeliotis bet 5,000. Seidel check-raised to 13,500 and Roumeliotis called.

The river completed the board with the {2-Spades} and Seidel bet 22,000, sliding a tall stack of yellow T1,000 chips across the line. Roumeliotis made the call.

Seidel showed the {9-Diamonds}{7-Spades} for trip sevens and Roumeliotis mucked his hand.

Grinder Picks One Up

Nível 13 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

From the button, Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi raised to 4,400. Noah Schwartz called from the big blind and the flop came down {10-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{3-Clubs}. Schwartz checked, Mizrachi bet 5,000 and Schwartz called.

The turn added the {10-Clubs} to the board and Schwartz checked. Mizrachi checked behind.

The river was the {9-Diamonds} and Schwartz checked. Mizrachi bet 10,000 and Schwartz folded.

Less Than 105 Now

Kent Lundmark is having no trouble at his tough table that includes Bruno Fitoussi, Jason Mercier, and Noah Schwartz.

In the last hand, the chip leader opened to 4,500, and Mercier three-bet to 10,700 from the button. The action paused back on Lundmark for a moment, and he craned his neck in the direction of Mercier's chips.

"Started with 105," Mercier said.

After another moment, Lundmark grabbed the 10-or-so blue chips he had in front of him and made what was effectively a four-bet shove. Mercier spent a minute or so thinking, checking his cards several more times before he spun them into the muck.

Duhamel Done In

We missed the exact preflop action, but we can infer that Jonathan Duhamel opened the pot into Michael Mizrachi's big blind, then four-bet jammed with {J-Hearts} {J-Diamonds}. It was just less than 50,000 total, and Mizrachi's {A-Clubs} {A-Spades} was plenty good enough to call any amount.

Duhamel was drawing dead one card early as the board ran {2-Hearts} {7-Hearts} {4-Spades} {A-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds} to end his day.

Powell Poker

Just the tail end of a pot here, but another glimpse at the big-stacked battle going on at Table 77 between Erik Seidel and Brian Powell.

They were heads up on the river of a {5-Clubs} {3-Diamonds} {4-Diamonds} {K-Clubs} {8-Hearts} board when we approached, and Powell was the leading bettor from the small blind. He put out 17,800 -- a little more than half the pot -- and Seidel would spend a good long while thinking it over. He leaned back in his chair and stared up at the ceiling for a bit, then slipped his headphones off and took another good look. Finally, he splashed the call into the pot.

Powell tabled {K-Spades} {Q-Clubs} like it was the nuts, and it may as well have been. Seidel quietly finished paying off the bet, then slipped his cards loose and sent them into the muck.

A Double and Then Some for Schwartz

Bruno Fitoussi raised from middle position to 5,000. Dmitry Motorov called from the cutoff seat, Massimiliano Martinez called from the small blind and Noah Schwartz called from the big blind.

The four players took a flop of {9-Spades}{7-Clubs}{2-Clubs} and action checked around to Motorov. He bet 12,000 and Martinez folded. Schwartz check-raised all in for 59,100 and that forced out Fitoussi. Motorov called.

Motorov: {A-Clubs}{10-Clubs}
Schwartz: {9-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}

The turn was the {2-Spades} to pair the board and now Motorov had more outs to a better two pair than Schwartz if he could hit on the river. He also still had his flush draw.

The river landed with the {8-Diamonds} and missed Motorov, giving Schwartz the double up.

Motorov Wins Blind Battle with Mercier

Action folded to Dmitry Motorov in the small blind and he raised to 5,000. Two-time World Series of Poker gold bracelet winner Jason Mercier called from the big blind and the flop came down {K-Clubs}{J-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}. Motorov fired 5,600 and Mercier called.

The turn was the {3-Spades} and Motorov kept pressing. He bet 13,000 this time. Mercier gave his cards one last look and then tossed them in.

Mortensen Gored

Carlos Mortensen - out
Carlos Mortensen - out

The table folded around to the blinds, and Jon Aguiar shoved in to put the pressure on the short stack to his left. It was Carlos "The Matador" Mortensen, the 1999 WSOP Champion. He squeezed out {A-Clubs} {K-Diamonds} and quickly called off his last ~10,000, and Aguiar was drawing live for the knockout with {8-Hearts} {9-Diamonds}.

And the knockout he'd get. The board ran {7-Spades} {7-Clubs} {Q-Spades} {8-Diamonds} {2-Clubs}, and eights up send Mortensen off to the rail.

Waxman Straightens Grinder

We picked up the action on the {K-Spades}{9-Clubs}{7-Spades} flop in a hand between Matt Waxman and Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi. Waxman was first and checked. Mizrachi bet 7,000 and Waxman made the call.

The turn was the {8-Diamonds} and Waxman checked. Mizrachi checked behind.

The river landed with the {2-Clubs} and Waxman bet 8,500. "Show me queen-jack," said Mizrachi as he tossed in the call.

Waxman rolled over a {J-Diamonds}, but it was paired with the {10-Hearts} and he had a straight. Mizrachi mucked.
