Event #5: €10,400 No-Limit Hold'em (Split Format)

"Yup, I did it again."
"Yup, I did it again."

Massimiliano Martinez raised to 5,000 from under the gun and Kent Lundmark reraised to 11,500 from the cutoff seat. Action folded to Jason Mercier and he reraised all in for 105,300. Martinez studied for a little bit and then reshoved for 124,300. Lundmark folded and the hands were revealed.

Martinez: {9-Hearts}{9-Spades}
Mercier: {2-Spades}{2-Clubs}

The question now wasn't "will Mercier win this hand?" but rather "how will Mercier win this hand?"

The flop came down {J-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} and bam, just like that Mercier spiked a set of deuces to take the lead. The turn brought the {Q-Diamonds} and the river the {A-Hearts} to keep his set good and double him up.

Mercier is famous on Twitter for his hastag "#whenwillitend," but as far as we can tell, it's not ending anytime soon. Credit to Jonathan Aguiar for the title to this post.

Aguiar Doubles with Quads

From under the gun, Jonathan Aguiar raised to 5,000. Action then folded to Joseph Elpayaa in the cutoff seat and he reraised to 12,400. Play folded back around to Aguiar and he took a minute before announcing that he was all in, a shove worth 71,200. Elpayaa called.

Aguiar: {J-Hearts}{J-Spades}
Elpayaa: {A-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}

The flop, turn and river ran out {A-Clubs}{Q-Spades}{J-Clubs}{5-Spades}{J-Diamonds} and Aguiar finished with quads to win the hand and double through.

Motorov Dents Lundmark

On a {6-Hearts} {7-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds} flop, we caught up with the action as Kent Lundmark was putting out a bet of 5,700. He was heads up, and Dmitry Motorov raised to 12,000 with about 50,000 behind. After some consideration, Lundmark shoved in, and Motorov quickly called all in for his tournament life.

Lundmark: {7-Hearts} {8-Hearts}
Motorov: {5-Hearts} {5-Clubs}

Motorov needed a four, five, or nine to notch the knockout, but he'd just miss on both ends. The turn {10-Hearts} was too high and the river {3-Clubs} was too low, and Motorov has found his double. Lundmark could afford that little bit, and it looks like he's still the chip leader with over 300,000.

Dmitry Motorov 135,000 55,000

Kings for Fleyshman

Dan Fleyshman raised to 5,000 for the third hand in a row. This time, he was in middle position and Matt Waxman defended with a call from the big blind. The flop came down {10-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{2-Clubs} and Waxman checked. Fleyshman bet 8,400 and Waxman called.

The turn paired the board with the {2-Spades}. Waxman checked and Fleyshman checked.

The river was the {7-Spades}. Waxman fired 12,000 and right away, Fleyshman raised to 30,900. After a minute in the tank, Waxman called.

Fleyshman tabled the {K-Diamonds}{K-Clubs} and Waxman mucked his hand.

A Non-FatalError For Elpayaa

Jon "FatalError" Aguiar has been hovering in mid-to-short-stacked territory all day long, and he's just now found a full double. It came with pocket fives, Aguiar content to flip with Joseph "BigEgypt" Elpayaa for double or nothing. Aguair said he had a good feeling when he was shown {K-} {Q-} across the table, and indeed, he managed to run out a full house to bink the double.

Mark him down for 89,000 now. Elpayaa is still doing quite well as you can see by his trend since his last chip update.

The Final Four

We've just lost Amir Lehavot from the table nearest us, and the field is now just 24 players. Another table has been cleared out of the way, and we're left with just four six-handed tables.

From under the gun, Joel Nordkvist raised to 4,500. Brian Hastings called from the cutoff seat and action folded to WIll "The Thrill" Failla in the small blind. He reraised all in for 62,400. Play moved back to Nordkvist and he reraised all in and that knocked Hastings out of the way.

Failla: {A-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}
Nordkvist: {9-Spades}{9-Diamonds}

The flop, turn and river ran out {Q-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{5-Clubs} and Failla smashed a club flush to double up.
