Trickett Out of The Traps

In a day that could be a great day for UK poker (John Eames and Roberto Romanello in the final table of Event #2 right now) Sam Trickett has reminded us all that he is still in business.

We joined the action at the turn on a board of {Q-Spades} {J-Diamonds} {7-Diamonds} {2-Spades}. The action had checked to Trickett and he had bet 22,400 and both Alex Kravchenko and Sean Jazayeri had called. The river was the {2-Hearts}, Jazayeri checked to Trickett and he bet pot, Trickett had both players covered and they both folded their hands.

Kashi Wants to Beat The Chip Leader

Michele Di Lauro came close to having the chip lead at the end of the day yesterday. His table mates see him as the chip leader though and Kambiz Kashi to take him down. "I want to double through the chip leader," is what Kashi said as he beat Di Lauro out of some chips.

Di Lauro raised from the under the gun position to 1,600 and got called by Kashi who was in late position. The flop brought out {K-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{10-Spades} and Di Lauro check-called a 3,000 bet. On the turn the {5-Clubs} appeared and Di Lauro checked once more. Kashi threw out 8,000 and that got his Italian opponent to fold.

Kashi showed {K-Spades}{10-Clubs}{7-Hearts} as he raked in the pot after which Di Lauro claimed to have folded {A-}{A-}{J-}{9-}.

Vega Wins One at Showdown

Gavin Cochrane raised to 1,800 in the cut-off and Alfredo Vega cold-called on the button. The dealer gave us a flop of {Q-Hearts} {7-Diamonds} {3-Diamonds} and Cochrane's c-bet of 3,000 was called by Vega. We had the almost mandatory check-check at the sight of the {7-Hearts} and the last card was the {K-Hearts}. Cochrane checked and Vega bet 4,600 and Cochrane made the call and mucked his hand seconds later.

Chartier Takes Friberg Down

Sam Chartier
Sam Chartier

We just picked up the action between Sam Chartier and Erik Friberg on the flop. The flop was {8-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{9-Spades} and with 4,000 chips in the middle Friberg had laid out a bet of 8,000. Our best guess is that Chartier had already put in a previous bet, but since there was 16,000 in front of him that was no longer retraceable.

Friberg was thinking about it for quite some time before shoving all-in for around 40,000 total. Chartier snap-called.

Sam Chartier{10-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{7-Diamonds}
Erik Friberg{A-Spades}{Q-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{J-Spades}

The turn was the {A-Clubs} and the river the {3-Diamonds} giving Chartier the knock-out. Friberg, who finished eight in the 2006 WSOP Main Event, left the room bringing us down to 43 players already.
