While today represents the worst day of the year for many poker players, specifically those who busted the Main Event, Event #74: $1,111 The Little One for One Drop provides many a chance to unwind and play one more World Series of Poker Event all while donating to a great cause, the One Drop Foundation. That was the case here today as Day 1c was full of poker, laughter, and just all around fun.

Take Daniel Negreanu for example who shoved all in blind for his first six buy-ins, only to finally find some stability late into the tournament. Or Cory ‘BiNks’ Waaland, who earlier in the summer preached to many the importance of making poker fun for everyone. Waaland was able to amass a huge stack today (96,700), admitting that he was “in the zone.” Of course, there was also the table of JC Tran, Joseph Cheong and Danny Wong who drank late into the night, shouting, laughing, and at one point accruing a penalty for Wong for shouting and swearing.

Event #74 represents a last chance for many players, or a summer saver as some may call it. Several players took the event very seriously. Chris Ferguson, for example, grinded out the day creating a large stack of 93,400 by the end of it, and despite his earlier shenanigans, Daniel Negreanu managed to bag as well, bringing 56,500 to Day 2. Phil Hellmuth late registered as well but wasn’t able to find a bag at the end of the night. At the end of the day, Guiseppe Pantaleo was the chip leader in the Miranda room, bagging up a stack of 335,800.

Some others returning Friday include Eric Wasserson (150,000), JC Tran (25,400), Joseph Cheong (80,600), Jean Gaspard (169,300), Tony Dunst (102,600), as well as former Main Event Champ Martin Jacobson (64,500).

All in all a total of 470 players made it through the day of the 2,484 who began, bringing the total field to 4,391 players with 784 surviving. All of them will return Friday at 2 p.m. to play ten more levels. Players should approach the money bubble on Friday as only 784 remain and 659 will make the money. All of those who squeak their way in will earn at least $1,500 while the eventual winner of this event will take home $528,316.

Be sure not to miss any of the action as PokerNews will be here to cover it all.

Foxen Rivers Two Outer to Crack Aces

Nível 10 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

It's been a good summer to be Alex Foxen. He has already registered 13 cashes at this year's World Series, and thanks to a monster hand just before the end of the day, he is well on his way to #14.

Action started with a raise to 2,400. Foxen three bet it to 8,600, and the raiser came back with a four bet to 21,000. Foxen moved all in for about 80,000, barely having his opponent covered. His opponent quickly called, and the preflop cooler was confirmed.

Foxen: {K-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}
Opponent: {A-Hearts}{A-Clubs}

The flop of {J-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{8-Hearts} gave Foxen hope for runner runner, but the turn was a blank for him. However, the {K-Spades} slapped down on the river, giving Foxen a huge pot right before the bags were brought out.

Joseph Cheong

With the board reading {2-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{8-Clubs} Joseph Cheong got it all in against another opponent and he was at risk.

Joseph Cheong: {10-Hearts}{9-Hearts}
Opponent: {q-}{q-}

The river was the {a-Spades} and Cheong faded the board pairing and chipped up on the second last hand of the night, heading into Day 2 with some momentum.

Joseph Catches To Nearly Double

Nível 10 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

A preflop confrontation had Johanssy Joseph calling an all-in shove from Tommy Chen, leaving the two heads up going to a showdown.

Joseph: {A-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}
Chen: {J-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}

The flop came down {6-Spades}{K-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} giving Joseph the lead.

"Heart for a sweat!" Chen pleaded with the dealer, and he got it on the {6-Hearts} turn. Unfortunately for Chen the river was the {10-Diamonds} and that would do it for him. He hits the rail in the last level of the night while Joseph earned a near double in the pot.

Ferguson Fires All Three Streets

Nível 10 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Chris Ferguson was heads up on the button against the big blind on a flop of {J-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}. He checked it to Ferguson, who fired out 3,300. The big blind called, and the turn brought the {8-Clubs}. Another check from the big blind drew a bet of 7,500 from Ferguson. That bet was called, and the {4-Clubs} completed the board.

After a third check, Ferguson fired out 13,000. His opponent spent quite some time in the tank, about two or three minutes, before he called for about half his stack. Ferguson rolled over {J-Spades}{J-Clubs} for top set, and his opponent could only shake his head and flash the {J-Diamonds} as he mucked.

Souza Rivers Hutter for Heaps

Nível 10 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Barry Hutter and Alex Souza were in a pot with about 30,000 in it and the board read {q-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}. Souza and Hutter got it all in on the turn with Hutter at risk with about 38,000 total.

Barry Hutter: {a-}{a-}
Alex Souza: {10-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}

The river was flipped over and the {2-Diamonds} hit the board completing the flush for Souza and sending Hutter to the rail.

Chop for Chris Chalkley the Chip Chairman

Nível 10 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

A player opened from middle position. Action folded around to Chris Chalkley, one of the current chip leaders of the tournament with roughly 160,000 chips. He three-bet to a little over 6,000 and the middle position raiser called.

On the {J-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} flop, Chalkley led out with a bet of 6,500. His opponent called.

The turn was the {5-Hearts} and both players checked to see the {5-Spades} on the river. Chalkey put out a bet of 14,500 and his opponent called. Chalkey showed {K-Diamonds}{J-Hearts} while his opponent showed {A-Clubs}{J-Spades}. Chalkley tapped the table to say "nice hand" to his opponent, but the dealer grabbed his cards and mucked them.

"Wait!" came cries from the table. "It's a chop!"

Eventually the mistake was rectified and Chalkley was awarded his rightful half of the pot, allowing him to retain his spot as one of the current chip leaders.
