Only 28 players out of 8,120 entries remain for Day 3 of the 2017 World Series of Poker Event #60: $888 Crazy Eights No-Limit Hold'em 8-Handed. Ian O'Hara leads the field of survivors with 5,660,000, and he aims to earn his first WSOP gold bracelet. The lion's share of the $6,489,502 prize pool is still up for grabs and the winner will take home a payday of $888,888.
O'Hara is followed by five players above four million in chips: Alexandru Papazian (4,840,000), Michael Tureniec (4,640,000), Eric "basebaldy" Baldwin (4,505,000), Vlad Darie (4,420,000) and Guillaume Diaz (4,090,000). Among the other hopefuls still in contention is 2017 Event #20: $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em MILLIONAIRE MAKER winner Pablo Mariz, who emerged victorious from a huge field of 7,761 players to take home the championship and $1,221,407 for his efforts earlier this series. Mariz will head into Day 3 with an above-average stack of 2,500,000.
Other notables include Randy Pfeifer (2,595,000), WSOP all-time number of cashes leader Douglas Carli (2,050,000), South Korea's Vivian Im (1,545,000), Harry Lodge (1,400,000), Ray Qartomy (1,375,000), [Removed:172] (1,350,000), Danny Wong (1,240,000), Event #25: $1,000 Pot-Limit Omaha runner-up Jonathan Zarin (750,000) and two-time WSOP bracelet winner Ben Yu (610,000).
The action will recommence at 2 p.m. local time with level 29 and blinds of 40,000/80,000 with a running ante of 10,000. The tournament is scheduled to play down to a winner here on the Fourth of July, the Independence Day of the United States, and the PokerNews live reporting team will provide all the action from the floor.

The very first hand of Day 3 saw Michael Phillips open-shove from the second position and the action stopped at big blind Randy Pfeifer who threw in the calling chips.

Another early elimination emerged on Table 4 as Alexander Deutsch left the tournament in 27th place.
Deutsch was all in with against Toby Price's and an ace-high board sent Deutsch packing.

Alexandru Papazian placed a bet of 90,000 on the button and was then reminded that the big blind was 80,000, so it was ruled as a call. "It's too early," joked Papazian. Ben Yu in the big blind checked and then called a bet worth 100,000 on the flop. Both players then checked the turn before Yu bet the river for 200,000.
Papazian called and Yu showed to win the pot.

IIoannis Angelou Konstas raised to 160,000 from the button and Paul Berger three-bet to 315,000 from the small blind. Konstas asked for a count on the remaining stack of Berger and called. Both players checked the flop and Berger continued for 300,000 on the turn, which Konstas called.
The river was checked through and Berger briefly showed his cards, then mucked when Konstas showed as winning hand.
