Event #37: $1,000 No-Limit Hold'em

Dia 3 Começado

It's Time to Crown a Champion in Event #37: $1,000 No-Limit Hold'em

Day 3 of Event #37: $1,000 No-Limit Hold'em is on deck at 12 noon local time, ready to crown yet another World Series of Poker champion.

From a starting field of 2,020 players, just 20 remain with a chance at the first-place prize of $292,880. Each of the remaining players is guaranteed a payout of $9,209, but they all have their eyes on that top prize and the bracelet.

Leading the way is Chris Johnson, sitting on a mountain of chips worth 1,242,000. He is the only player above a million, with Vlad Darie (902,000) and Joep Raemaekers (890,000) making up the top three spots.

Some of the notable players still in contention are Eric Blair (825,000), Michael Gathy (672,000), Katie Swift (425,000), Benoit Lam (280,000), Jeff Blenkarn (203,000) and Ryan Smith (107,000). These are all worthy contenders and this is most definitely going to be a fun field to follow today!

The day will begin 30 minutes, or halfway, through Level 21 with blinds at 6,000/12,000 with a 2,000 ante. As usual, there will be a break every two levels with a scheduled 60-minute dinner break after the sixth level of the day.

Keep following along as the PokerNews live reporting team brings all of the action right to your fingertips on the way to crowning another bracelet winner.

Allan Bieler Doubles... By Surprise!

Nível 21 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante
Allan Bieler
Allan Bieler

On a board reading {j-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{2-Hearts} with about 45,000 in the pot, Allan Bieler managed to get his stack of 216,000 all in over top of a bet from Shaun Davis, and was called.

Bieler was at risk and tabled {9-Hearts}{7-Spades} for a straight draw, and Davis showed {j-Clubs}{7-Hearts} for top pair. Both players had a heart in their hands, with Bieler holding the better flush draw.

The turn was the {10-Clubs}, completing Bieler's straight. He cheered, but when the {k-Hearts} hit the river he threw his hands up in disappointment. Until the dealer pushed the pot to him, he clearly thought he had lost.

When he realized he won, he sat back down and raked in the pot. Another player at the table pointed out, "You were ahead on the turn and just improved on the river!"

Joep Raemaekers is Busy Early On

Nível 21 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

There was around 115,000 in the pot with the board reading {k-Spades}{5-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} and Li Fu made a bet of 76,000 from the small blind. Joep Raemaekers was in the big blind position and called to see the {6-Clubs} land on the river.

Fu checked and Raemaekers thought for a moment before putting together a bet of 118,000. Fu quickly folded and Raemaekers added to his stack early in the day.

Ryan 'Rybo' Smith is a Hit With the Ladies

Nível 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Ryan Smith
Ryan Smith

Michael Gathy raised to 32,000 from middle position, and Ryan 'Rybo' Smith moved all in for 73,000 from the small blind. Gathy called.

Smith was at risk with {q-Hearts}{q-Clubs}, up against Gathy's {10-Hearts}{7-Hearts}. The flop came {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}, giving Gathy trip tens. It was looking grim for Smith, but the turn was the {q-Spades} and Smith immediately perked up, making a full house. He just had to dodge the fourth ten in the deck, and he did when the {8-Diamonds} hit the river.

Smith doubled through and has some chips to work with after coming in to the day last in chips.

Benoit Lam

Benoit Lam happily pushed all in for his remaining 178,000 from early position. Lam was playing with his cards and had a big grin on his face while the action was folded to Li Fu on the button who made the call. It was a race scenario as Lam tabled {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds} and Fu showed {q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}.

The board ran out {10-Spades}{3-Spades}{2-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{6-Clubs} and Fu was victorious with her pocket queens, eliminating Lam in 18th place.
