With the 2022 World Series of Poker Main Event final table beginning today, it marks that the inaugural series at Bally's and Paris, Las Vegas is coming to its conclusion. And with that, the apt named Event #85: The Closer No-Limit Hold'em gets underway today with Day 1a kicking off at 12 p.m. local time.

The Closer has two starting flights, with Day 1b getting underway tomorrow Saturday, July 16. The fields from Day 1a and Day 1b will then merge on Sunday, July 17 and will play down to a winner.

Last year's iteration of the event saw 1,903 players enter the field and generated a prize pool of $2,540,505. Team Winamax pro Leo Margets came out victorious after defeating Bulgaria's Alex Kulev in heads-up play.

She took home $376,850 for her efforts, and the first WSOP bracelet of her career. Other notables making a deep run included Chris Moorman (8th - $44,740) and Kenny Haellert (13th - $22,310).

Players will sit down with 50,000 in chips in their starting stacks. Blinds will start at 100/100 with a 100 big blind ante. Levels will last 30 minutes a piece, with a 20-minute break scheduled after every fourth level.

There will be a 75-minute dinner break after Level 12, expected to be around 6:40 p.m. local time. Players can rebuy once per starting flight, with late registration closing at the end of the dinner break, (approx. 7:55 p.m. PDT).

McMillan Firing Early

Nível 1 : Blinds 100/100, 100 ante

After a raise to 300 by the button and a call from the small blind, 2021 Seniors Event Champion Robert McMillan raised it up to 1,200, earning calls from both opponents.

On the {q-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{5-Hearts} flop, McMillan continued for another 1,100. The button quickly got out of the way while the small blind tossed in a call. The {3-Spades} hit the felt on the turn and McMillan fired his biggest barrel yet, of 2,100. This was too much for the small blind, as he quickly got out of the way, giving the early pot to McMillan.

Robertson Misclick Takes Pot

Nível 1 : Blinds 100/100, 100 ante

There was 1,000 in the middle on a flop of {j-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{3-Clubs}. Christopher Robertson bet 600 from the small blind and was called by the under the gun player and Timothy "The Trooper" Watts on the button.

The {j-Diamonds} landed on the turn and Robertson threw two pink chips into the middle worth 10,000 and when pointed out to Robertson his reply was "oops!"

Under the gun and Watts quickly folded their hands and Robertson claimed to be pink/purple colorblind after the hand concluded.

Muldown Takes One with Kings

Nível 1 : Blinds 100/100, 100 ante

Three-way action was joined on the {10-Clubs}{6-Spades}{a-Diamonds} flop with about 700 in the pot. Matt Muldown led out from the cutoff for 1,100. He earned calls from both opponents, one on the button and the other in the big blind.

The {a-Hearts} hit on the turn to pair the board. Muldown continued, this time for 2,000. The button snap called while the big blind took a moment or two, but eventually made the call as well. The {3-Diamonds} river card was checked all the way around.

The button showed {q-Clubs}{q-Hearts}, before Muldown turned over {k-Spades}{k-Hearts}, which proved good enough to scoop the pot.
