Whitlow Scores Triple Up Before Break

Nível 16 : Blinds 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

An open to 17,000 from early position got two callers: Vincent Lam in late position and Judy Whitlow in the small blind.

On the {9-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{j-Hearts} flop, Whitlow led out for 15,000. The early position player put in a raise to 50,000. Lam called before Whitlow jammed for a total of 82,000. "Does that open it back up?" the early position player asked. Lam was quick to inform it didn't, as her shove was not a complete min-raise, so they could only call or fold. Both players chose to call.

On the {4-Spades} turn, the early position player quickly moved all in and Lam called even faster, putting himself at risk and creating a three way showdown with side pot action.

Judy Whitlow: {j-Spades}{j-Clubs}
Vincent Lam: {9-Hearts}{9-Spades}
Early Position: {a-Hearts}{10-Hearts}

Whitlow had the best of it with her set of jacks, while Lam was ahead for the side pot with a set of his own. The early position player would need a heart that didn't pair the board in order to scoop anything. The {3-Spades} river satisfied neither of these, instead improving both Lam and Whitlow to full houses. Whitlow scooped the main pot for the triple up while Lam took in the side pot as a consolation prize.

Big Double Up For Biggers

Nível 16 : Blinds 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Action was joined with a complete board of {q-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{10-Spades} on the felt and nearly 200,000 already in the pot. The under-the-gun player led out for 30,000. Anthony Biggers, in the cutoff, moved all in for 233,500, which sent his opponent deep into the tank.

"I've got a straight," the opponent said to Biggers, hoping to get a read off of him. Eventually, another player at the table called the clock. As time was about to expire, he tossed in the call, putting Biggers at risk.

Anthony Biggers: {a-Diamonds}{q-Spades}
Opponent: {q-Hearts}{9-Spades}

They both had a straight, but Biggers' was bigger, and he took down the pot with Broadway, scoring a huge double up to give himself one of the biggest stacks in the field.

Elsewhere in the room, Justin Bonomo was eliminated.

No Satisfaction

Nível 15 : Blinds 3,000/5,000, 5,000 ante

There was quite a commotion on Table 12 that drew the attention of most of the Paris Ballroom.

The big blind had moved all in for 60,500. When Serghei Lisii called from late position, the big blind was ecstatic, shouting, "He called!"

Action was now on the hijack to make a call or laydown. He was tanking for several minutes, during which the big blind put on a show. He was singing (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction by The Rolling Stones.

"But, he can't be a man 'cause he doesn't smoke...
The same cigarettes as me...

"I can't get no!"

This went on for a bit, with a nearby floor person even singing along for a line or two. Eventually, the hijack folded the {7-Diamonds}{7-Spades} face up. It was now time for a showdown, and for one player, satisfaction.

Big blind: {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}
Serghei Lisii: {a-Hearts}{q-Clubs}

The big blind was poised for satisfaction, roughly a 3:1 favorite to win the pot and double up. After the {3-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{6-Hearts} favorite, he was up to a 4:1 favorite. With just the river card to come, he was in fantastic position, poised to put on a celebration that would no doubt entertain the already captivated audience. A three or six would result in a chopped pot. Only a queen could take it down for Lisii.

Unfortunately for the big blind, the song's lyrics came true, as he would get no satisfaction. The {q-Diamonds} hit the felt on the river, and Lisii had the best hand, knocking the singer out of the tournament. He left still in high spirits, presenting Lisii Do Something Beautiful for God by Mother Theresa, and writing his initials next to his favorite passage.

Kim Doubles Through Kessler

Joon Kim
Joon Kim

All the chips were in the middle preflop with Joon Kim in middle position at risk for 74,500 against Allen Kessler in the hijack.

Joon Kim: {7-Clubs}{7-Hearts}
Allen Kessler: {a-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}

The flop of {k-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{4-Clubs} reduced the number of outs available to Kessler as Kim had a club. The runout of {6-Diamonds}{4-Spades} was no help for "Chainsaw" and is reduced to less than five big blinds while Kim is around average stack.

Negreanu Eliminated After Consecutive All Ins

Nível 14 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Daniel Negreanu
Daniel Negreanu

Action was joined after Neel Joshi moved all in for 40,000. He got one caller in Daniel Negreanu, sitting just a couple seats to his left. With Joshi as the player at risk, the two tabled their hands.

Neel Joshi: {k-Hearts}{q-Clubs}
Daniel Negreanu: {a-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}

Negreanu was ahead, but the {q-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{6-Hearts} flop gave Joshi a flush draw. The {2-Hearts} turn completed that flush to put Joshi ahead, leaving Negreanu drawing dead. The {9-Hearts} river put a flush on the board, but Joshi scooped with the king of hearts.

Just seconds later after the next hand had been dealt, Negreanu announced that he was all in again. for a total of 63,500. He got one caller, Antoine Vranken from the small blind, who had Negreanu covered.

Daniel Negreanu: {9-Hearts}{9-Clubs}
Antoine Vranken: {k-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}

"This guy's been going all in every other hand!" one player at the table said to PokerNews, referring to Negreanu, who was now in bad shape to stay alive, with just 20% equity in the hand. The {10-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{2-Clubs} flop was of no help, nor was the {a-Diamonds} turn. Negreanu had just two outs, but neither came as the {10-Spades} completed the board on the river, knocking Negreanu out of the tournament.

Vranken and another player at the table informed PokerNews about another critical hand that had happened not much prior. Negreanu had gotten it all in with jacks against Vranken who had queens. A jack came on the flop to put Negreanu ahead, but then a queen hit on the turn putting him back behind, resulting in a double up for Vranken.

Mandy Takes Chip Lead After Sick Cooler

Nível 13 : Blinds 2,000/3,000, 3,000 ante

The button and Brandon Mandy, the two biggest stacks at the table got all of their chips in the middle preflop with the button at risk for 309,000, which is a colossal 103 big blinds.

The Button: {k-Clubs}{k-Spades}
Brandon Mandy: {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds}

Mandy's pocket rockets were ahead but the flop of {k-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{j-Clubs} gave the button a set who celebrated loudly, however it did produce an extra four outs for Mandy as they could hit a ten for a straight.

Mandy did it the hard way though as the {a-Spades} landed on the turn silencing the button to disbelief. The {8-Diamonds} completed the board and Mandy has the biggest stack in the room.
