Day 2 of Event #79: $1,979 Poker Hall Of Fame Bounty No-Limit Hold’em has ended. The day started with 139 players returning to continue the journey to the bracelet and the $276,067 top prize but only seven players are left to go into the third and final day. The schedule originally had planned for this to be a two-day event, but that was changed and, instead, play ended after 10 levels.

Leading the charge is Jinho Hong who bagged 7,000,000. Behind him are Punnat Punsri (6,280,000) and Daniel Weinman ( 2,975,000).

Two of the Hall of Fame bounties were still in play at the start ofthe day: Barry Greenstein and Barbara Enright. However, both were eliminated early in the Day 2 action. Greenstein’s bounty was the last to fall and was awarded to Jakob Miegel when his ace-king bested Greenstein’s ace-ten.

Several notables who were lost today included potential Poker Hall of Famer Shaun Deeb, who was knocked out in 12th place when he ran his pocket nines into Yuri Dzivielevski’s pocket queens. Another was two-time bracelet winner Georgios Sotiropoulos who exited in 13th after he also ran into pocket queens with his pocket jacks and the reigning champion Ole Schemion could not pull off the back-to-back titles as he was eliminated earlier in the evening.

Play will resume Tuesday at 2 p.m. local time in the Bally’s Event Center and will start on Level 31 with blinds at 100,000/200,000 with a 200,000 big blind ante.

Hong Puts Rotariu In a Bind

Nível 30 : Blinds 10,000/150,000, 150,000 ante

Jinho Hong raised from under the gun and George Rotariu called in the big blind.

The flop came {7-Diamonds}{a-Spades}{k-Diamonds}. Hong continued for 350,000 and Rotariu called.

The turn was the {j-Clubs}, Rotariu check-called a bet of 500,000.

The {9-Diamonds} filled out the board. Rotariu checked a third time. Hong thought for about 30 seconds before announcing all in. Rotariu put his head down and went into the tank, looking like he was about to think for a long time. But ultimately he folded after less than a minute and Hong gathered the pot.

Rotariu later said he had folded {k-}{j-}.

Weinman Hits the River Again

Nível 30 : Blinds 10,000/150,000, 150,000 ante

Jinho Hong raised to 300,000 from the cutoff. Daniel Weinman jammed for 1,400,000 out of the big blind and Hong called swiftly to but Weinmann at risk.

Daniel Weinman: {k-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}
Jinho Hong: {k-Spades}{q-Hearts}

The flop came {2-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} and Weinmann began to pack up his stuff. The turn was the {7-Clubs} but the river sat him back down as the {j-Diamonds} saved him from elimination, the river once again being his saving grace.

Punnat Punsri raised to 240,000 from early position. Jakob Miegel jammed all in from the cutoff for 1,265,000. Bas De Laat checked his cards and tanked for quite a while before jamming for slightly more. Punsri thought for a bit before he folded.

De Laat was at risk with the {8-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} while Miegel had the {k-Spades}{q-Spades}.

The flop paired Miegel as it came {q-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{6-Spades}. Punsri reacted in horror as he claimed to have folded pocket sixes and would have been his way to a huge double knockout with flopped quads.

But as it was, the turn came the {2-Spades} and the river was the {7-Spades} to leave De Laat with a single chip, which he did win one all in with after he got pocket eights for the second time in a row. But he was felted two hands later when his pocket deuces were out flopped by Jinho Hong and he was gone.
