Event #41: $2,500 Freezeout No-Limit Hold'em

Dia 1 Começado

Welcome to Day 1 of Event #41: $2,500 Freezeout No-Limit Hold'em

Ivan Deyra
Ivan Deyra

There won't be any second chances when Day 1 of the Event #41: $2,500 Freezeout No-Limit Hold'em event begins at 11 a.m. today. Players will begin the tournament with a starting stack of 35,000 and only get one shot at winning a World Series of Poker bracelet.

There was a similar $3,000 No-Limit Hold'em event held in 2019 but it wasn't a freezeout meaning you can't reenter, which was won by France's Ivan Deyra for $380,090. That tournament attracted 671 entrants which created a prize pool of $1,811,700 and featured final table appearances from both Patrick Leonard and Andras Nemeth.

The plan for today is to play 17 40-minute levels, with a 20-minute break taking place after every three levels and Days 2-3 having 60-minute levels. There will be a 75-minute dinner break at approximately 5:40 p.m. also, at the conclusion of Level 9 late registration will be closed.

As always, the PokerNews team will be on hand to provide live updates and chip counts throughout the tournament.

Messick Can't be Blown Off Trips

Nível 1 : 100/100, 100 ante

On a board of {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}, there were roughly 3,500 chips in the middle, and after his opponent checked Ryan Messick put in a bet of 2,800. His opponent gave it a few moments and put in a big check-raise of 11,200.

Messick pondered his options for about 20 seconds and decided to make the call. The opponent tabled {10-Clubs}{2-Clubs} for a missed flush draw and Messick tabled {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts} for trip kings to take down the pot.
