Day 1b of Event #4: $500 The Reunion No-Limit Hold'em has concluded. The second flight drew a field of 4,455 entries, a significant increase from yesterday during Day 1a of this $5,000,000 guarantee tournament. Only 204 of them survived the flight and will return for Day 2 on Monday, October 4th at 10 a.m. local time, where they will mix with the surviving players of Day 1a and the upcoming Day 1c.

Robert Brobyn bagged the top stack of 5,015,000 chips partly thanks to a run he went on at the end of the day where he accumulated a large number of chips. In one hand he got queens in against jacks and held, and in another, he found an ace while holding ace-king over kings.

A selection of the other notable stacks heading into Day 2 include Darryl Ronconi (2,030,000), Jeremy Wien (1,640,000), Barry Greenstein (745,000), and Roland Israelashvili (620,000).

Some of the players who fell short of bagging a stack include Shaun Deeb, Qui Nguyen, Dan Shak, Matt Berkey, and Ryan Depaulo. However, they will have an opportunity to play in the final starting flight if they choose to with Day 1c starting on Sunday at 10 a.m. local time.

Stay tuned for more coverage of this event and the entire 2021 World Series of Poker from the PokerNews Live Reporting Team.

Nível 22 : 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante
Robert Brobyn
Robert Brobyn

After a series of raises, Robert Brobyn had his opponent all-in before the flop and both players had tabled their hands.

Opponent: {k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}
Robert Brobyn: {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}

Brobyn wasn't at risk but his opponent was for roughly 1,700,000 and Brobyn was looking to spike an ace. The dealer fanned a flop of {a-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{q-Diamonds} giving Brobyn the lead with a pair of aces, and the board completed with the {6-Hearts} on the turn and the {2-Clubs} on the river. Brobyn eliminated his opponent and took a massive chip lead going into Day 2.

Gomez Finds Straight

Nível 22 : 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante

With around 200,000 in the pot and a flop of {k-Spades}{8-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}, a player bet 100,000, Aaron Gomez jammed for 280,000, and another player raised to 755,000, which caused the other player to fold and show he let go of {k-}{q-}.

Aaron Gomez: {10-Hearts}{9-Hearts}
Opponent: {a-Clubs}{k-Hearts}

Gomez was looking to complete his straight and he indeed did so on the {6-Clubs} turn. The meaningless {3-Spades} river completed the board and Gomez took the pot.
