Event #35: $500 Freezeout No-Limit Hold'em

Dia 1 Começado

Players Get One Shot When Event #35: $500 Freezeout No-Limit Hold'em Begins at 11 a.m. PST

Dalibor Dula

The massive field that gathers at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino today for Event #35: $500 Freezeout No-Limit Hold’em will take their seats knowing one thing: they have only one chance to fulfill their dreams of winning a WSOP bracelet.

This is a freezeout event, so once a player loses their 25,000 starting stack, they won’t get the opportunity to re-enter. For information about how to play freezeout tournaments, check out the PokerNews freezeout portal.

The schedule calls for 22 30-minute levels when play begins at 11 a.m. PST. Late registration is open until the end of dinner break, which is expected to come around 6:55 p.m. Players who survive the day will return tomorrow to play down to a champion.

Last week’s $1,000 Freezeout event attracted 1,358 players and was won by Dalibor Dula of the Czech Republic. Maxx Coleman and Maurice Hawkins made runs to the final table. With a lower buy-in, expect an even larger field today.

Dula is still alive in the Monster Stack event, so it remains to be seen whether he will enter this event and take another shot at repeating that performance. He had just $4,700 in WSOP earnings before his bracelet. The field today is sure to attract a fair mix of established pros and players just like Dula who are looking to make a name for themselves by overcoming the odds and winning the bracelet.

Stay tuned as PokerNews will be here throughout the day providing live updates and chip counts as the field is whittled down past the money bubble and toward crowning a champion tomorrow.

Aces Versus Kings In Level One

Nível 1 : 100/100, 100 ante

John Spishak just had a poker player's worst nightmare, all in with kings versus aces on Level 1.

Spishak was holding {k-Diamonds}{k-Clubs} and had his opponent barely covered holding {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs} as the board came out {q-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{q-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}. But Spishak's nightmare turned into a dream when the {k-Spades} came on the river to send his opponent home 10 minutes into the first level of the tournament.

The action picked up on the board reading {4-Spades}{k-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{3-Hearts} and Justin Arnwine had all his remaining 13,700 in the middle.

His opponent tanked before making the call and Arnwine turned over {3-Clubs}{3-Spades} for the full house.

His opponent didn't show, mucked his hand and Arnwine scooped the pot.

Platt Wins with Kings

Nível 2 : 100/200, 200 ante
Jeff Platt
Jeff Platt

The action picked up when a player in early position limped in the pot but behind him was Jeff Platt he raised to 600.

It folded around back to the original limper and he made the call to see a flop {j-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{5-Hearts}. Platt bet 500 and his opponent called.

The turn was the {10-Hearts}, the limper checked, Platt bet 800 and was checked raised to 3,200 which he called.

The river {3-Hearts} was checked by both players to go to showdown.
