The penultimate day of Event # 18: $2,500 Mixed Triple Draw Lowball began with 104 players remaining, all looking to bag up a stack at the end of the night and keep their hope alive for that coveted WSOP gold bracelet and the $134,390 in cash that comes along with it! After ten 60-minute levels of play, the action was down to a dozen hopefuls still in contention for the title, with Jason Daly (1,595,000) leading the pack.

Second in chips and attempting to add a fourth WSOP gold bracelet to his collection is Brian Yoon (1,080,000). He is no stranger to running deep in WSOP events and will look to use his experience as he works his way towards a victory.

Meanwhile, Gary Benson (935,000) and Joao Vieira (435,000) are in contention for their second bracelets, while Mike Gorodinsky (130,000) has his eyes on his third bracelet.

A few notable bracelet winners that made the money, but did not make it to the final day included Johannes Becker (13th place), Carol Fuchs (15th place), and Nicholas Seiken (19th place).

Please join us on Sunday here at PokerNews for live updates throughout the tournament or live here at the Rio in the Amazon room at 2:00 p.m. local time where we will play down to an eventual winner!

Five hands of Badugi remain to be played and the button on both tables will be in the three-seat. The limits will be 25,000/50,000 upon restart and the seat assignments for the final two tables are as follows.

Day 2 Completed

Nível 20 : 20,000/40,000, 0 ante

The second tournament day has completed with 12 players remaining. They completed the redraw for the final two tables, played one hand of Badugi and then bagged up for the night.

Chip counts and a recap of today's action are to follow.

Johannes Becker Eliminated in 13th Place ($6,579)

2-7 Triple Draw

Johannes Becker escaped from elimination and doubled to four big bets against Hal Rotholz when he made a {q-}{8-}{7-}{5-}{3-} and Rotholz paired up to finish with a {5-}{4-}{4-}{3-}{2-}.

Becker then made it three bets and Michael Trivett called. Becker patted the final two draws while Trivett took one each. The German walked over to his opponent to sweat together with the {7-}{5-}{4-}{2-} exposed. Sure enough, Trivett peeled the {3-} for the wheel and Becker's {8-}{7-}{6-}{3-}{2-} was no good.

James Woods: {8-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}
Joao Vieira: {10-Clubs}{6-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}

James Woods was all-in for the small blind. Joao Vieira raised and the two were heads-up. After the three drawing rounds had been completed, it was Vieira that won the hand with a ten-six-five-deuce Badugi. As a result, James Woods was eliminated from the tournament in 14th place.

Woods Doubles With Aces

Nível 20 : 20,000/40,000, 0 ante

Badugi

James Woods was all-in for just 30,000 on the button and Carlos Rodriguez called in the big blind. Rodriguez ended up taking one card each on all three draws while Woods discarded two on the first two draws and one on the final draw.

"You are ahead Sir but I have a chance," Rodriguez announced and tabled the {j-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{2-Spades}. "I have a heart," he then followed that up with and Woods sigh-exposed his {3-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}{a-Spades} for a pair of aces. What he didn't notice was that Rodriguez had paired up with the {j-Hearts} and thus Woods doubled.

"I didn't lie," Rodriguez grinned and Woods took it the jovial way it was. "That was great," he laughed but remained in the red zone with a very short stack.

Peck Wins Showdown Pot Against Tate

Nível 20 : 20,000/40,000, 0 ante

A-5 Triple Draw

Vladimir Peck patted the last two cards and was called by Brian Tate, who took one and then patted on the final draw. The cards of Peck were revealed as he showed the {6-}{4-}{3-}{2-}{a-} and Tate replied "six is good" before sending his cards into the muck.

Woods Doubles Through Vieira

2-7 Triple Draw

At essentially the same time as Carol Fuchs ended up all-in, the same was also the case for James Woods as well albeit for more chips.

Woods ended up showing a made {10-}{8-}{5-}{4-}{2-} after the final draw while Vieira was sweating a {9-}{6-}{4-}{3-} draw. However, that one bricked as he paired up the six to keep Woods in contention.

2-7 Triple Draw

To balance the remaining 15 players, Carol Fuchs was moved tables and it was her big blind next. She faced the button raise by Venkata Tayi and the small blind call by Johannes Becker, then called all-in. It was a fair fight on the first draw as everyone discarded two cards. Becker bet and Tayi called.

On the second draw, Fuchs discarded another two while Tayi and Becker discarded one. Becker bet with one single T-5,000 chip behind and Tayi folded. The final draw saw a pat of Becker and Fuchs took one to sweat with a {6-}{3-}{2-}{a-}, Becker had the {6-}{5-}{4-}{3-}{2-} and Fuchs ended up pairing her {2-} to finish in 15th place for $6,579.
