Nine Remain At Dinner

Ryan Tosoc

James Chen raised to 225,000 first to act and was called by Ryan Tosoc on the button and Erik Seidel in the big blind. On the {10-Spades}{8-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} flop, Seidel checked and Chen's bet of 400,000 won the pot right there.

In the last hand before dinner, Tosoc raised the cutoff to 350,000 and Chen came along from the big blind. They checked down the board {a-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} and Chen announced queens.

"Can I see your hand please?" Tosoc asked and added "I have aces," before Chen turned over {q-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{4-Spades}. Tosoc not only had aces but rivered a straight with {a-Clubs}{a-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{10-Spades}.

"I don't want to be a dick, it is just a crucial part of the tournament" Tosoc apologized and Chen instantly came back with a "then I will do this to everyone, just so you know."

The remaining nine players are now on a 60-minute dinner break and the action resumes at 9.53 p.m. local time with the following stack sizes and big blinds for the next level.

Chidwick Assumes Control

Wasim Korkis raised to 200,000 and Ryan Tosoc called from one seat over, as did Stephen Chidwick in the big blind. There was no betting action on the {6-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} flop and Chidwick bet the {6-Clubs} turn for 425,000 to claim the pot uncontested.

Chidwick then opened to 225,000 on the button, which Matthew Gonzales in the small blind called. On a {a-Spades}{9-Hearts}{3-Spades} flop, Gonzales checked and a bet of 300,000 by Chidwick did the trick to win the next pot.

Chidwick claimed the blinds the very next hand and Alex Epstein said in table chat "and he keeps getting more," to which Chidwick just smiled and silently raked in the pot.

Wasim Korkis opened and called a three-bet to 750,000 from Ka Kwan Lau. However, Korkis check-folded to a 500,000 bet on the {5-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{5-Spades} flop.

The very next hand, Korkis opened again and got calls from James Chen and Robert Mizrachi in the small and big blind respectively.

The flop was {6-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{2-Hearts} and Chen checked to Mizrachi who bet 180,000. He got two callers and the turn was the {a-Spades}.

This time it checked to Korkis who bet 375,000 and got two folds.

Chidwick Takes the Lead

[user38873] • Nível 26: 50,000-100,000, 0 ante

James Chen opened to 250,000 and picked up four callers including Stephen Chidwick, Alex Epstein in the cutoff, Wasim Korkis on the button and Ka Kwan Lau in the big blind. The {k-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{5-Hearts} flop was checked all the way to Chidwick and his bet of 400,000 was called only by Chen.

On the {5-Spades} turn, the board paired and Chen opted for a check. Chidwick carefully cut out a bet of 1,250,000 and that won the pot right there to vault the Brit into the top spot.

Epstein Takes From Lau

Ka Kwan Lau raised to 200,000 and was called by Erik Seidel from one seat over and Wasim Korkis in the big blind. On the {a-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{8-Hearts} flop, action checked to Lau and his bet of 350,000 won the pot.

One hand later, Lau limped ion and so did Robert Mizrachi, Alex Epstein on the button and Ryan Tosoc in the big blind. The {9-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{3-Hearts} flop was checked to Lau and he made it 250,000 to go. Only Epstein called and faced another bet of 350,000 on the {a-Spades} turn, which he also called. The {4-Clubs} on the river was checked and Lau tabled {k-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{9-Spades} for a pair and busted flush draw.

Epstein had that beat with {a-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} and raked in the pot.

Anyone Else Want to Play?

will_shill • Nível 26: 50,000-100,000, 0 ante

James Chen opened and Alex Epstein defended his big blind. The pair checked the {10-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} flop and turn and the river was the {6-Clubs}.

Epstein bet 100,000 and Chen raised in position to 400,000. Epstein called.

Chen showed {8-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{5-Spades} for a flush and Epstein mucked the {k-Clubs} face up.

Epstein Closes the Gap to Chen

[user38873] • Nível 26: 50,000-100,000, 0 ante

In the first hand of the nine-handed table, Alex Epstein made it 250,000 first to act and James Chen in the cutoff three-bet to 800,000. Epstein verified the bet size and made the call to check a flop of {a-Hearts}{q-Spades}{10-Hearts}. Chen continued for 1,100,000 and Epstein check-raised to claim an instant fold from Chen and nearly close the gap at the top of the leader board.

Esther Taylor Eliminated in 10th Place ($116,656)

Esther Taylor
Esther Taylor

Esther Taylor made it 350,000 from under the gun and James Chen flat-called on the button. Taylor jammed for her remaining 480,000 on the {6-Spades}{8-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} flop.

"I'm not loving it..." said Chen but called with {9-Hearts}{9-Spades}{a-Spades}{3-Hearts}

Taylor held {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} for an open-ended straight draw but the {k-Spades}{6-Diamonds} runout bricked and Chen's nines held to send the 2017 third-place finisher in this event to the rail in 10th place.

Mizrachi Extracts Value From Seidel

[user38873] • Nível 26: 50,000-100,000, 0 ante

In a battle cutoff versus big blind, Robert Mizrachi and Erik Seidel headed to the {q-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds} river and Seidel led for 250,000 into a pot of around 600,000. Mizrachi raised it up to 1,100,000 and Seidel called after some consideration.

Mizrachi turned over {k-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} for a flush and that won the pot to send Seidel back towards the shorter stacks.
