Ludovic Geilich raised to 65,000 and he was called by Wasim Korkis from one seat over and big stack James Chen in the big blind. On a flop of , action checked to Korkis and his bet of 100,000 was called only by Geilich.
Neither the turn nor the river produced any betting action and Geilich tabled the . Korkis had for the same ace-high straight and they chopped it up.
The money bubble has already lasted more than 15 hands, and no all in showdown has taken place yet.
Ka Kwan Lau raised from early position and was called by Matthew Gonzales in the big blind. On the flop, Gonzales checked and called a bet of 40,000 by Lau. Both checked through the turn and a bet of 100,000 by Gonzales on the river won the pot uncontested.
You can't have missed Sebastian Bastian in the $25,000 Pot-Limit Omaha High Roller field today. Wearing a bright red hat he's been sitting quietly and going about his business. But at some point, you've just got to ask...
"It was New Years Eve 2006," said Bastian. "I was right here at the Rio. And everyone had on these outfits for New Years so I went to the gift shop and I bought this hat."
He pointed to the hat as if to emphasise the point.
"I went back to the blackjack, and there was this guy from Texas and his wife, and he offered to buy the hat.
"He said 'I'll give you $100" and I said no. Then he said 'I'll give $500!' so I sold the hat to him."
So how come he still has the same hat very clearly upon his head?
"I went back to the gift shop and I bought the same one again. It was the very last one. I went back to the table and the same guy was still there with his wife. He must have laughed for a good four hours about it."
According to Bastian, he's worn the hat every time he's played poker since.
"I even got my first tournament cash in this hat," he said. And if he can just survive one more elimination, he might add another in the most prestigious PLO tournament in the world.
Two minutes are taken off the clock for each hand played and there has been no other major action except for the domination of Anson Tsang. One further level will be played for tonight and the blinds will go up in three hands from now.
The money bubble has not produced any all in showdown yet and Michael Drummond dropped down to 130,000 while Anson Tsang on the same table took on Micah Smith. On a flop, Tsang bet 100,000 in the cutoff and Smith on the button raised to 300,000, Tsang called.
After the turn, both players opted to check and the followed on the river. Tsang double-checked his cards and bet 450,000, which Smith called.
Tsang revealed for a full house and scooped another big pot.
Dominykas Karmazinas raised it up to 50,000 and Anson Tsang came along out of the big blind to see a flop of . Tsang checked over to Karmazinas, who continued for 70,000 and picked up a call by Tsang.
The on the turn proved to be the action card as things escalated. Tsang checked, Karmazinas made it 190,000 to go only for Tsang to check-raise for the size of the pot, making it 820,000 in total. Karmazinas gave it plenty of consideration and moved all in for around 1.4 million, Tsang snap-called.
Dominykas Karmazinas:
Anson Tsang:
Tsang was freerolling with the same straight and two pair, and indeed got there with the on the river. The tournament was stopped during that hand, as players requested to go hand-for-hand two off the money, but with the elimination of Karmazinas that became void.
The tournament will now continue hand-for-hand on the stone cold money bubble.
