Elezra Takes Majority of Mountain's Stack with Back-to-Back Straights

Nível 22 : 12,000/24,000, 3,000 ante
Eli Elezra

Two hands in a row, it was Eli Elezra vs. Joshua Mountain all the way to showdown. The first hand saw Mountain complete showing {x-}{x-}/{4-Hearts}, called by Elezra with {x-}{x-}/{9-Diamonds} and the bring-in Scott Seiver with {x-}{x-}/{3-Diamonds}. Seiver dropped out of the hand on the next card, but Elezra riased Mountain's lead with their hands thus:

Mountain: {x-}{x-}/{4-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{5-Spades}
Elezra: {x-}{x-}/{9-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{7-Spades}

Mountain made the call, and check called the last two streets, having been dealt a {j-Clubs} on sixth to Elezra's {a-Clubs}. When Elezra's last bet of 20,000 was called, he turned over {10-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{k-Spades}/{9-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{7-Spades} for a jack-high straight and took the pot.

The very next hand, Elezra bet on fifth street and was raised by Mountain:

Mountain: {x-}{x-}/{2-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{7-Hearts}
Elezra: {x-}{x-}/{j-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{9-Spades}

Elezra made the call and picked up the {10-Spades} to Mountain's {a-Diamonds}. Elezra fired when Mountain checked to him, and Mountain called after thinking for a while (he had 115,000 behind at this point). One more call later, Mountain was down to 95,000 as Elezra showed down a queen for another straight.

Vornicu Bets at Every Opportunity; Seiver Calls Until the River

The betting limits are a hefty 10,000/20,000, and any pot that gets to the later streets is big. Just now Valentin Vornicu bet all the way down to the river, Scott Seiver checking each time. Their hands by seventh:

Vornicu: {x-}{x-}/{k-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{10-Spades}
Seiver: {x-}{x-}/{j-Spades}{a-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}

The final time Vornicu bet, Seiver went into the tank, cutting down his chips with the dexterity of a dealer and considering his 122,000 remaining stack. Eventually, he folded.

Rod Pardey Jr. Eliminated in 10th Place ($6,510)

Rod Pardey Jr. raised on fourth street, got a call from Scott Seiver and went in for the last of his chips on fifth street.

Rod Pardey Jr.:{a-Spades}{k-Clubs}/{10-Hearts}{3-Spades}{5-Spades}{q-Spades}/{5-}

Pardey has plenty of outs going into the river, with four to a spade flush and a gutshot to a broadway straight. He didn't improve enough to take down Seiver's {9-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} however, and the field is down to nine players.
