Day 2 of Event #7: $565 COLOSSUS No-Limit Hold'em at the 2018 World Series of Poker has come to an end and there are just 32 players remaining. Leading the way is the USA's Matthew Causa, who is in the hunt for his first bracelet and is already in line to make the biggest cash of his career, with all remaining player's guaranteed a payday of $17,597.

Causa bagged up 4,410,000 but has USA's Thai Ha hot on his heels, sitting on a stack of 4,095,000. Causa flew under the radar for much of the day but caught fire late on Day 2 to rocket to the top of the chip counts. Other big stacks that will be moving on to Day 3 include Paawan Bansal (3,435,000), Sang Liu (3,339,000), and Matt Silva (3,385,000).

There are plenty of big names still in the hunt including WSOP bracelet winner John Racener (3,010,000), Timothy Miles (2,695,000) and Day 1E chip leader Kurt Jewell (2,260,000) just to name a few.

Not all of the fan favorites were fortunate enough to survive to the day's end. Among the fallen players on Day 2 were Phil Ivey, Michael Gagliano, Matt Affleck and Valentin Vornicu.

The final 32 players will return to the Amazon Room on Wednesday, 6 May at 2pm local time to resume Day 3 and play down to the final table. Blinds will be recommencing on Level 29 at 30,000/60,000 with a 10,000 running ante. The plan is to play down to the final table, however long this takes, with 15-min breaks every two 60-minute levels and a 60-min dinner break after Level 6 (≈8:30pm).

The PokerNews live reporting team will be on the tournament floor to bring you all the highlights of the action so join us then as we see who has what it takes to walk the road to the final table.

You can peruse the full Day 2 chip counts below and the Day 3 seating assignments will be posted before play resumes.

Bulliard Sent to the Rail

Nível 28 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante
Andrew Bulliard
Andrew Bulliard

Andrew Bulliard was sent to the rail by Ben Gilbert.

Bulliard got all his chips in the middle holding {J-Hearts}{J-Clubs}, but he was well behind the {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs} of Gilbert.

The board ran out {5-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} and that was the end of Bulliard's Colossus run.

Jewell Takes One

Nível 28 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante

Kurt Jewell raised to 110,000 from middle position and the player in the small blind was the only caller.

The flop came {Q-Spades}{5-Spades}{3-Diamonds} and the small blind checked. Jewell bet 60,000 and the small blind called.

The turn brought the {8-Hearts} and the small blind checked once more. Jewell bet again, 280,000 this time, the small blind folded, and Jewell took the pot.

Zulker Doubles Up

Nível 28 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante

Mike Zulker was in the small blind and got his 375,000 chips in the middle before the flop against a player in early position.

Mike Zulker: {6-Spades}{6-Hearts}
Opponent: {K-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}

Zulker was flipping for his tournament life and needed his pair to hold in order to win. He took a commanding lead on the {Q-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{6-Clubs} flop when he hit a set, neither the {4-Hearts} turn nor {J-Spades} river changed anything, so he took the pot for the double-up.

Miles Chips Up

Nível 28 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante

With about 475,000 already in the pot and the board reading {J-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} action checked to the player in the hijack and he bet 150,000. Timothy Miles called from the small blind.

The turn brought the {K-Hearts} and both players checked.

The {9-Hearts} fell on the river and they checked again. Miles rolled over {K-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds} for kings up, his opponent mucked, and he took the pot to put his stack over the 3,000,000-chip mark.

Miles Catches Ha's Bluff

Nível 28 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante
Timothy Miles
Timothy Miles

The action folded around to Thai Ha on the button and he raised to 100,000. Timothy Miles re-raised to 375,000 from the big blind and Ha called.

They went heads-up to the {k-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{5-Diamonds} flop and both players checked. The dealer burned and turned the {4-Spades} and again both players quickly checked.

The {9-Hearts} hit the river and Miles checked to Ha who threw out a bet of 650,000. Miles thought it over for a few moments, staring at Ha from across the felt before eventually making the call. Ha tabled his {10-Clubs}{8-Spades} for just ten high and Miles showed {j-Hearts}{j-Diamonds} to take the pot.
