Four Remain in $1,500 Omaha Hi-Lo; Martini and Hoang in the Lead

Nível 30 : 40,000/80,000, 0 ante
Kate Hoang

After three days of ten hours each, four players are still vying for the coveted bracelet and the first place prize of $239,771 in Event #4: $1,500 Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better. An extra, unscheduled day is needed to decide who will be the fourth bracelet winner of the 2018 World Series of Poker.

Eight out of nine players at the final table may have been representing the United States, but the chipleader going into the final day is the lone non-American, Julien Martini from France. It's Martini's seventh cash at the World Series of Poker, and finishing third or better in this event would top his 8th place in a $3,000 No-Limit Hold'em Event ($53,569) from last year.

Omaha Hi-Lo is a notoriously swingy game, and while Martini bagged a substantial lead with 3,720,000, he started the final table as one of the short stacks and was at risk early. Martini was all-in with a set of fives against Hoang's straight and low draws, and the river bricked to double Martini up. After the double, the Frenchman worked himself quickly back up and took the lead after scooping a big five-way pot. Holding ace-six on a board containing two sixes, Martini collected the full pot after all low draws busted.

Following Martini is Kate Hoang, who sits in second place with 2,250,000. The immaculately dressed Hoang certainly stands out at an average poker table, but looks can be deceiving as she's no slouch when it comes to Omaha Hi-Lo. Last year, Hoang final tabled the 10K PLO/8 for $44,738, and the year before she finished runner-up in the $3K PLO/8 for $182,281. A third major cash in three years awaits the American, who was born in Vietnam, and a bracelet would be a crowning achievement.

Rounding out the final four are short stacks William Kopp (440,000) and Mack Lee (425,000). Both players will come back with just two big bets and will need to spin it up when they return. Kopp is a WSOP circuit ring winner, born in Ohio, while Lee is a high-stakes mixed game aficionado who's a regular sight at the WSOP.

Day 3 action

Day 3 started off with 36 hopefuls who were all guaranteed at least $5,605. Within one hour, the field lost ten players, with Frank Muir first to go. The first hour also ended Mike Leah's run. After two levels, 21 out of 36 were remaining and action slowed down after that, with subsequent bustouts going in much slower fashion.

Missing out on the final table were bracelet winner Mike Wattel (21st - $6,764), Swedish poker legend Chris Bjorin (17th - $8,296) and Chris Roth (15th - $10,340). Final table bubble was James Pursley (11th - $13,091), who busted together with November Niner Jeff Shulman (12th - $13,091) against Mack Lee. Lee held pocket aces and turned a full house to send both players to the rail.

At the final table, Martini made his aforementioned double and subsequent rise before Tammer Ilcaffas busted in 9th ($16,832). Ilcaffas lost with ace-queen-seven-four against Brandon Ageloff, who had flopped top set with pocket kings. He was followed to the rail by former CardPlayer magazine owner Denny Axel, who finished 8th for $21,977. Axel's ace-king-ten-three couldn't defeat Kopp's aces with king-four.

Longtime chipleader Rafael Concepcion had a terrible final table and finished in 7th place ($29,128) after tumbling down the leaderboard in multiple hands. Chad Eveslage (6th - $39,182) followed him when Hoang made a wheel to claim both high and low. The last bustout of the night was that of Brandon Ageloff (5th - $53,482), who also fell to Hoang. Ageloff was down to just one big blind when he lost his final hand with queen-ten-ten-seven against Hoang's ace-queen-jack-nine. An ace on the turn sealed it for Hoang.

The four remaining players will return on Sunday, June 3, at 2 p.m. local time, to play until a winner has been crowned. They'll return in level 31 with blinds at 50,000/100,000 and limits of 100,000/200,000. PokerNews will be on the floor as we crown the latest WSOP bracelet winner.

Day 3 has concluded after ten levels of 60 minutes. Four players will come back at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 3, to contest for the bracelet. A recap will follow later.

Kate Hoang raised on the button and Julien Martini called from the big blind. On the {10-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{2-Hearts} flop, Martini checked and subsequently raised after a bet by Hoang, and picked up a call. Martini bet the {6-Clubs} turn and Hoang called before the {5-Clubs} fell on the river.

Martini checked and Hoang quickly bet. The Frenchman double-checked his cards and eventually folded. Hoang double-checked her cards and Martini asked if he could see the two cards to the right from him. Hoang obliged and flashed the {Q-Hearts}{3-Hearts}. "Bluffy bluffy," Martini grinned ... the chips were bagged up right after.

On the {J-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} flop, Hoang led out, Martini made it two bets, Lee called and Hoang called. Hoang led out once again on the {9-Spades} turn and both Martini and Lee called.

The river double-paired the board with the {4-Diamonds}. Hoang checked, Martini bet, Lee called and Hoang folded.

Martini showed {A-Clubs}{J-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} for fours full of jacks and Lee flung his hand face-down in the muck.

Lee Scoops Kopp with Straight Flush

Nível 30 : 40,000/80,000, 0 ante
Mack Lee
Mack Lee

Mack Lee raised on the button and was called by Kate Hoang in the small blind and William Kopp in the big blind. The flop fell {9-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} and Hoang checked, Kopp bet and that resulted in calls by Lee and Hoang.

After the {4-Hearts} turn, Hoang checked again and Kopp bet, only Lee called this time to leave himself with 15,000 behind.

The {J-Diamonds} river saw a bet from Kopp and the all in call from Lee. Kopp revealed {K-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}{10-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} for the king-high flush and Lee flipped over {A-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} for a straight flush and the low to scoop the pot, sending Kopp to the bottom of the counts with four players remaining.

Brandon Ageloff Eliminated in 5th Place ($53,482)

Nível 30 : 40,000/80,000, 0 ante
Brandon Ageloff
Brandon Ageloff

After folding his big blind in the previous hand, Brandon Ageloff was left with a little over one big blind. In the small blind, he thought for a bit before shoving.

Before calling, Kate Hoang raised her glass and toasted with Ageloff.

"Cheers. I hope I beat you," Ageloff quipped.

Brandon Ageloff: {Q-Clubs}{10-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{7-Spades}
Kate Hoang: {A-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}{J-Spades}{9-Clubs}

The dealer fanned out {7-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{A-Spades}{8-Spades} and Hoang caught her ace on the turn to eliminate Ageloff. After finishing 3rd in a $1,500 event last year ($161,844), Ageloff finished in 5th this time and received $53,482.

"I Am Not Ready To Go Yet"

Nível 30 : 40,000/80,000, 0 ante
Brandon Ageloff
Brandon Ageloff

Brandon Ageloff called a raise by Kate Hoang and a call by William Kopp before check-folding the {8-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} flop to Kopp's bet.

Two hands later, Hoang limped in and Kopp checked. On the {6-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{4-Hearts} flop, Hoang checked and called a bet by Kopp. After the {10-Hearts} turn, Hoang checked once more and called another bet by Kopp before the duo checked the {J-Hearts} river.

"Oh, I have a flush," Hoang joked and Kopp announced a flush before grinning and turning over {6-Spades}{4-Clubs} for two pair. Hoang showed her {K-Spades}{7-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{3-Spades} for a straight and a low to scoop Kopp.

Ageloff limped in and Kopp did so from the small blind. Julien Martini raised and Ageloff moved all in for 140,000, both opponents called. The {9-Hearts}{7-Spades}{2-Hearts} flop and the {6-Hearts} turn were checked, Kopp bet the {8-Diamonds} river and Martini called.

Kopp showed {Q-Clubs}{5-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} for a straight and Martini had the {K-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} for a flush to scoop the high pot. Ageloff flipped over {A-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{7-Spades}{5-Clubs} for the best low and claimed half of the main pot. "I am not ready to go yet," Ageloff announced.

Shortly after that, Mack Lee was denied a double when his {4-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} could not hit a low or flush against the {A-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{9-Spades}{4-Spades} of Kopp on a board of {A-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{K-Spades}.

Martini Decimates Ageloff

Nível 30 : 40,000/80,000, 0 ante
Julien Martini
Julien Martini

Julien Martini raised from under the gun and Kate Hoang defended her big blind. Martini bet the {A-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{3-Hearts} flop and Hoang check-called.

On the {J-Diamonds} turn, Hoang led out and Martini called. The {8-Spades} river went check/check and Hoang showed the winner with {K-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}.

In the next hand, however, Martini would get it all back and more against Brandon Ageloff. After Martini had defended, he check-raised an {A-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}{2-Clubs} flop and Ageloff called. Martini bet the {K-Hearts} turn and {J-Diamonds} river and Ageloff called the turn quickly, and the river after some thought.

Martini flicked {K-Clubs}{J-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{7-Hearts} face-up forward for jacks full of kings and Ageloff had to part with the majority of his stack.
