Katz Runs Out of Lives

Nível 16 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Cary Katz has been eliminated from the tournament. It appeared he got his chips in on a {8-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{10-Spades} flop holding {q-}{q-}. Unfortunately for him, Will Givens had flopped two pair with the {8-Spades}{4-Clubs}. Neither the {6-Diamonds} turn nor {3-Hearts} river helped Katz and he was eliminated from the tournament just shy of the dinner break.

"No More Play"

Nível 16 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Ivan Freitez raised from the cutoff and David Pham defended his big blind.

The pair checked down the {4-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{3-Spades} flop and the {A-Hearts} turn, but Pham bet 15,000 on the {Q-Hearts} river. Freitez reluctantly called with his {A-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} and Pham showed {3-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} for a flopped full house.

"No more play," said Freitez to Pham, "Next time you bet, I insta-fold!"

Cohen Back in Business; Diaz Done For

Nível 16 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Sam Cohen open-shoved from middle position for 44,100 and her all-in bet went uncalled. Matt Salsberg was in the big blind and he open-folded {7-Spades}{2-Diamonds}.

The next hand, Cohen open shoved again, this time for 53,100 thanks to the blinds and antes that were added to her stack on the previous hand. This time she picked up a caller in the shape of Jay Diaz. The other active players ducked out of the way an the cards flipped onto their backs.

Cohen: {K-Clubs}{10-Clubs}
Diaz: {J-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}

A {2-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{8-Clubs} gave Cohen outs to a flush in addition to being able to hit a king. This is exactly what she did when the {K-Diamonds} appeared on the turn. The {3-Spades} completed the hand and Cohen doubled through Diaz.

Diaz busted on the next hand when he moved all-in for less than the big blind. Isaac Baron completed the small blind and the big blind checked. The blinds then checked the {Q-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{8-Spades} flop, Baron then check-folded to a 7,000 bet on the {4-Diamonds} turn.

The big blind showed {7-Hearts}{4-Hearts} and it was good enough to beat Diaz's {K-Spades}{3-Diamonds} when the {5-Clubs} completed the board.

We're now down to 60 in this event.

Morse Finds a Trey

Nível 16 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Josh Morse got his last 60,000 all in preflop and was dominated by Daniel Strelitz.

Morse: {3-Clubs}{3-Hearts}
Strelitz: {8-Spades}{8-Hearts}

Morse was in desperate need of a three, and he found one on the {3-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{k-Hearts} flop. The {9-Clubs} turn was of no consequence, and neither was the {5-Diamonds} river. With that, Morse received a much needed double.

Davies Looking For a Deep Run

Nível 16 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Scott Davies is currently armed with 82,000 chips at the 1,500/3,000/500a level, which is around 27 big blinds. Davies has numerous cashes at the World Series of Poker, the largest topping the scales at $30,974, his reward for a 356th place finish in the 2011 Main Event.

If Davies wants to beat that impressive score, and why wouldn't he want to, he'll need to finish in ninth place or higher.

A Big Flip for a Lot of Chips

Nível 16 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

We missed the action unfold, but we do know a preflop raising war resulted in Stephen Hesse getting his sizable stack all in preflop against Isaac Baron.

Baron: {q-Clubs}{q-Spades}
Hesse: {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs}

It was a flip for a pot of around 180,000, and Hesse needed to improve to stay alive. He didn't want to watch his fate and turned his head as the dealer put out the flop — {10-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{9-Spades}. Nothing for Hesse, though he didn't know it as he still had his back turned.

The {J-Spades} turn changed things a bit as a king would no longer win it for him (it'd give Baron a straight), but a queen would give him Broadway. The dealer burned one last time and put out the {6-Diamonds}. Hesse turned back around and discovered the bad news.
