Hand #161: Stazsko Drags a Monster

• Nível 40: 600,000-1,200,000, 200,000 ante

Martin Staszko had the button, and he opened to 2.5 million. Pius Heinz defended his big blind, and it was heads up to the flop.

It came {A-Hearts} {10-Spades} {4-Diamonds}, and Heinz checked to the raiser. Staszko made a repeat bet of 2.5 million, and Heinz looked him up -- both literally and figuratively -- with a stare and a call.

The {7-Diamonds} came on the turn, and Heinz checked again. Staszko stacked together a bet in his hands, and he made it 7.5 million to go. Heinz only spent a minute or so thinking before calling once again, and there was a big pot brewing headed to the {Q-Spades} river. Staszko swallowed a bit noticeably as Heinz called the turn bet, and it was checked to him one last time on the river. He let out a shrug, then began stacking up another bet. There was 26.4 million in the pot, and the Czech fired out with a third bullet worth just over half of that -- 13.75 million.

Heinz sunk back in his chair a bit as he pondered, and he folded his arms across his chest and sat thinking for a few minutes. He reached for his coffee several times, but we never saw him take a sip, and it seemed that he was more intent on trying to feel out a reaction from his opponent. After a few minutes, he leaned forward to eyeball his remaining stack, trying to assess the potential damage. It was a long while before he folded, and the pot of more than 40 million was shoved over to the corner of Staszko.

It's been quite a roller-coaster day for the Czech, but he's climbing back up the hill now. That big pot moves him back to 58.45 million and comfortably into second place.
