Event #58: $10,000 Main Event

Dia 2b Começado

Welcome To Day 2b!

Ben Lamb - Day 2b Chip Leader
Ben Lamb - Day 2b Chip Leader

Good morning everyone. We are back at the Rio to bring you the action from Day 2b of Event #58: $10,000 Main event. Its a very exciting day here at the Rio, as once the days is complete, everyone remaining will have a day off. When they return on Thursday, all of the survivors will be in the same room for the first time in the whole event!

Today we have an astonishing 2490 players coming back from day 1b and 1d. Despite the overwhelming number of players, its safe to say that most everyone will have one eye on one player: Ben Lamb. Lamb has had a decent World Series so far, scoring a 2nd in the $3,000 Pot Limit Omaha, a 1st in the $10,000 Pot Limit Omaha, a 12th in the $10,000 6-handed Championship, and an 8th in the $50,000 Players Championship. Lamb has continued his incredible play, and somehow comes into today as the biggest stack of the day.

There are still plenty of other players to keep an eye on. We also have Patrik Antonius, Jake Cody, Daniel Alaei, Sam Trickett, last year's runner up John Racener, and a slew of former main event champs, including Jamie Gold, Robert Varkonyi, Huck Seed, Joe Hachem, and Berry Johnston.

The cards will be in the air in 30 minutes, and we will be playing five two-hour levels. After that, the players who are left will bag and tag their chips, and enjoy a much deserved day off. Be sure to stay tuned to Pokernews, as we will bring you up to the minute action all day!

Cards in the Air

And back down on the felt. We're underway!

While WSOP POY contender Ben Lamb has unbagged the most chips to start Day 2b (188,925), several are close, including Maynard Little, Ben Mintz, Andrew Hinrichsen, and Raj Vohra. Others sporting big stacks to start Level 6 are Antony Lellouche, Sergey Altbregin, Doug Lee, Ryan D'Angelo, Mark Droon, Kevin Saul and Lyle Berman.

All will be aiming at that total of 478,600 posted by Alexandr Mozhnyakov yesterday, the best of four players who exceeded 400,000 by night's end yesterday. Only 14 ended Day 2a with more 300,000.

Early Wound to Kroon

Nível 6 : 250/500, 50 ante

Mark Kroon just lost a chunk of chips here in the early going. Preflop back-and-forthing left Kroon's opponent all in for 31,050 versus Kroon, with the former holding {K-Clubs}{K-Hearts} and Kroon {Q-Spades}{10-Clubs}. The board came {2-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{A-Clubs}{2-Clubs}, and Kroon's opponent doubled up.

"Might have all gone in on that flop, anyway," said Kroon, and his opponent agreed. Kroon now has right about 100,000.

Lindgren Doubles Early

We knew Erick Lindgren would be all in early and often as he only started the day with 3,700 chips, and it looks as though he already doubled (and some) to right around 8,500. At the very end of Day 1B he asked the floor, "Can I just take these chips home? I don't want to waste a perfectly good bag." Well, now he is at least on the right track with nearly 20 big blinds. He's still got a lot of work to do if he wants to build up a stack, but we saw Phil Hellmuth come back from lower yesterday so we know it's possible.
