Bakes Bets The Whole Way

David Bakes Baker
David Bakes Baker

We went over to David Bakes Baker's table and saw that he was in a pot with three other players. The board read {7-Spades}{2-Spades}{3-Clubs}, and the big blind checked to Baker, who bet out 2,400. The other two players folded, but the big blind stuck around.

They went heads up to the turn, which was the {8-Hearts}, and after the big blind checked, Baker fired out 4,300. Again he was called, and the river came out the {4-Diamonds}. The big blind checked for a third time, and Baker took about 20 seconds before he fired out 9,400, which was just under half his stack. The big blind called fairly quickly, and he was given bad news, as Baker flipped up {k-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}. The big blind mucked, and Baker raked in the pot to bump him up to 55,000.

Duthie The Calling Station?

John Duthie
John Duthie

The player in the cutoff opened for 800 and was called by John Duthie in the big.

The flop came {4-Spades}{6-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} and Duthie checked, prompting an 800 c-bet from his opponent. Duthie called.

The {8-Diamonds} fell on the turn and like clockwork, Duthie checked and his opponent bet another 800.

"I'm a calling station," Duthie said as he made the call.

Both players checked the {J-Clubs} river and Duthie showed {7-Spades}{8-Spades} for a pair of eights. His opponent mucked.

Duthie is up to 43,000.

Cody Crippled After Sick River But Doubles

On a flop of {10-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{j-Clubs} Jake Cody bet out 1,500 from cutoff and was raised to 4,300 by the player on the button. Cody made the call and the two saw a {7-Hearts} turn. Both players checked the turn and the river came {8-Clubs}. Cody checked and the button bet out 7,100.

Cody splashed in the call and the button player showed {k-Clubs}{9-Clubs} for the runner-runner straight. Cody shook his normally still head and flashed {j-}{j-} for flopped top set. Cody fell to 9,500 after the hand.

Only a few hands later Cody was down to only 8,000 behind and put out 1,000 preflop. The small blind raised it up to 2,400 and Cody splashed in the last of his chips and got a call from the small blind.

Cody was behind with {a-Diamonds}{q-Hearts} to the {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds} of the big blind, but the flop came down {k-}{q-}{q-} and Cody held on to double up. He is currently sitting with just around 18,500 but still needs to make moves to get to Day 2 with any sort of a stack.

Kiddie Game's Down the Street

"Kiddie game's down the street!"
"Kiddie game's down the street!"

Jason Lester and Mike Matusow were heads-up on the turn with the board reading {5-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{q-Clubs}. There was roughly 15,000 in the middle, and Matusow made a pot-sized shove. Lester tank called, but was in bad shape.

Matusow: {k-}{k-}
Lester: {j-}{j-}

Only a jack would eliminated Matusow, and he survived when the {8-Spades} hit the river. The Mouth is now up to 57,000 chips, while his good friend Lester dropped to about 33,000.

Bellande’s Ladies Get Three Streets of Value

Jean-Robert Bellande
Jean-Robert Bellande

Jean-Robert Bellande raised to 850 in early position and was only called by the big blind. The flop came down {9-Spades}{4-Hearts}{3-Hearts} and the big check-called a 1,400 bet from Bellande. The action was the same for 3,200 on the {2-Spades} turn and for 5,300 on the {K-Diamonds} river. Bellande turned over {Q-Spades}{Q-Hearts} which was good as his opponent mucked and Bellande gave a little smile as he raked in the chips.

Seiver Staying Around

Scott Seiver started the hand by putting out a bet of 900 preflop from under the gun. A player in middle position raised and made it 2,200. Seiver made the call and got to see the {3-Clubs}{A-Spades}{4-Diamonds} flop where he checked. Seiver's opponent opted to bet 2,400. Seiver made the call.

With the {8-Clubs} landing on the turn and both players knuckled. A river {2-Spades} lead to a repeat in action as both players checked again. Seiver flipped over {A-Hearts}{Q-Spades} for a pair of aces and his opponent mucked.

The Random Fans

Over on the Main Feature table, most of the fans are pulling for Mike "The Mouth" Matusow, but a few self-proclaimed "random fans" are pulling for Mr. Marcelo Barchi.

"He blows us kisses," one girl told us. "So far I like him."

Barchi gave his fans a reason to cheer recently, when he doubled through Josh Ladines. Mike Matusow opened opened to 10,500 from early position, Barchi called on the button, and Lardines called out of the small blind. The flop fell {3-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{5-Spades}, and Lardines led for 1,750. Matusow called, Barchi raised to 4,000, Lardines called, and Matusow tank-folded.

The turn was the {3-Hearts}. Lardines checked, and Barchi confidently flipped to orange T5,000 chips in the middle. Lardines raised enough to put Barchi all in, and Barchi waved to his fans before slam-dunking his chips in the middle.

Lardines: {10-Hearts}{10-Spades}
Barchi: {q-Spades}{3-Spades}

Barchi needed to fade a ten, and successfully did so when the {7-Clubs} hit the river, doubling him to 64,600 chips.

Griffin Back Over 100,000

Nível 5 : 200/400, 50 ante

With the board reading {q-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{4-Spades}{2-Clubs} Ken Griffin checked from the big blind and the player on the button bet 4,000. Griffin called and the {6-Hearts} came on the river. Griffin took the lead and bet out two orange chips, worth 10,000. The button went into the tank for a couple of minutes before reluctantly folding his hand.

With that pot Griffin boosted his stack back up to 103,000.

"We're Not Playing Blackjack..."

David Ulliott
David Ulliott

Four limpers including Dave "Devilfish" Ulliott saw a flop of {7-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{5-Clubs}. Action checked around to Ulliott who fired out a bet of 2,000. Action folded back around to a player in middle position who decided to toss out a check-raise, making it 5,000 to go. Ulliott quickly called.

The turn brought the {10-Diamonds} and the player continued his aggression with a bet of 5,000. Devilfish called once again and the river came {9-Clubs}. Devilfish's opponent slowed down this time, checking, and Devilfish checked behind as well.

Devilfish's opponent tabled {A-Diamonds}{K-Clubs} for ace-king high.

"You know we're not playing blackjack? We're playing hold'em!" Ulliott remarked as he flipped up {9-Hearts}{7-Spades} for two pair. He scooped the pot, a wry smile never leaving his face.

Kelly Doubles Amid Confusion

We only showed up to the table to see the hand over and the full {7-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{A-Hearts} board out and all of Dan Kelly’s chips out in front of him. The other player had {10-Hearts}{9-Hearts} for a flush but Dan Kelly had {7-Spades}{5-Spades} for a full house if we heard correctly, all of the chips went in on the turn. At some point though, chips got mixed up and it was unclear how much the other player had put in and owed Kelly. This brought forth a bit of debate between several players including William Thorson and the dealer in an attempt to figure things out. Eventually, it was settled and Kelly doubled up.
