Van Brabander Through to Day 2 of SCOOP 121-M: $109 NLHE with Cowen Leading the Way
After 8 hours and 30 minutes, Day 1 of the SCOOP 121-M: $109 NLHE [8-Max, Progressive KO, Sunday Million SE] has come to an end with 502 players making it through to Day 2 from a total of 30,809 entrants. This broke the$2,500,000 guarantee and generated a prize pool of $3,080,900. When Day 2 restarts, all the remaining players will get paid at least $363 with the winner walking away with $153,743.
Claiming the Day 1 chip lead is Rob "robc1978" Cowen with 6,605,708, the only player above the 6-million mark. Many of those chips were won during the final hand of the day. Cowen had rivered a full house against the two pair of "devana ONE" when all the chips went in on the river and they got paid. He is followed on the podium by "DemonOfDawn" with 5,189,504 and "Elena20" with 4,801,177.
Also on the top five chipcounts is a familiar face in the live and online poker scene with Charlotte "Sjilot" Van Brabander, who collected a nice pot over a million chips against "lynxeye63" during the last hour of the day when she check-raised on the flop and forced a fold on the turn when she fired a big bet.
With such a huge field to start the day, big names were everywhere you look and some lasted longer than others. Many of felted before the money was reached, such as Benjamin "bencb789" Rolle, Daniel "Cabeça Tilt" Cost, PokerStars streamer Georgina "GJReggie" James, SCOOP champion Mike "goleafsgoeh" Leah, PokerStars Ambassador Ben "Spraggy" Spragg and Ricardo "2Much$4U_08" Lima just to name a few.
Amongst those who finished in the money, but won't be making it to Day 2, are PokerStars Ambassador Tom "MajinBoob" Hayward (795th), Bruno "B.Paulino" Paulino (965th), Dalton "daltonhb" Hobold (1,356th), and Benjamin "BC1989RF" Chalot (2,046th).
Day 2 resumes at 1 p.m. EST on Monday, June 1st to finish Level 27 which has a small blind of 15,000, big blind of 30,000, and a running ante of 3,750. All players will be eyeing up many more pay jumps towards the final table. Level duration will remain at 20 minutes each with play continuing until one winner walks away with the title.
