Konnikova Takes the Chip Lead from MacDonald

Nível 19 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante
Maria Konnikova
Maria Konnikova

Kevin MacDonald was coming close to being the first player to reach the 1,000,000 chip mark but Maria Konnikova put a stop to that. MacDonald limped in from under the gun and Konnikova raised to 30,000 from the cutoff. MacDonald called and the flop came {j-Spades}{5-Spades}{3-Hearts}.

MacDonald checked and Konnikova bet 33,000. MacDonald called and the {q-Hearts} appeared on the turn. MacDonald checked again and Konnikova bet 54,000 this time. MacDonald got his calling chips ready, thought for a moment, and then slid them forward.

The {2-Diamonds} on the river led to MacDonald firing out a bet of 145,000. Konnikova asked for a count and then made the call. MacDonald turned over {k-Spades}{4-Spades} for a missed flush draw and Konnikova revealed {a-Hearts}{q-Spades} for a pair of queens. Konnikova jumped into the chip lead and is now closing in on the seven-figure mark herself.

Moorman Steals Some Chips from Antunes

Nível 19 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Marcos Carneiro Antunes has been at the top of the leaderboard for much of the day and it seemed as though nothing or nobody was going to slow him down. However, he ran into the British sensation of Chris Moorman.

Moorman raised to 21,000 from the button and Antunes called from the big blind. The flop came {j-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} and both players checked to the {2-Spades} on the turn. Antunes checked again and Moorman bet 23,000, which Antunes called.

The river was the {3-Spades} and Antunes checked for the third time. Moorman fired out a bet of 46,000 and Antunes looked him up. Moorman confidently tabled {q-Spades}{10-Clubs} for a pair of tens and Antunes was unable to beat it.

Taylor Making a Late Rally

Nível 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Thomas Taylor
Thomas Taylor

Thomas Taylor has been stuck on the short stack for pretty much the entire day. He has managed to work his way into the final two tables and is now starting to make a move. Taylor raised to 16,000 from the hijack and Steven Rinaldi defended his big blind.

The dealer fanned the flop of {j-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} and Rinaldi checked to Taylor who bet 12,000. Rinaldi check-raised to 36,000 and Taylor called.

The {10-Diamonds} landed on the turn and Rinaldi checked again. Taylor, once again, took the lead in the pot with a bet of 40,000. Rinaldi just called this time and the {7-Spades} completed the board. Rinaldi checked one more time and Taylor fired another 40,000. Rinaldi paid him off and Taylor showed {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}, sending him a much-needed pot.

What You're Doing Wrong Deep in a Poker Tournament

Nível 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Harrison Gimbel has won a World Series of Poker Bracelet, World Poker Tour Main Event, and European Poker Tour Main Event. Only eight people have won the "Triple Crown" in poker history. Gimbel is no stranger to going deep in poker tournaments here at the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure. Gimbel gives tips on what to do when you're deep in a poker tournament but not quite at the final table. One of the things you may be doing wrong deep in a poker tournament is considering the pay jumps as opposed to just playing each hand one at a time.
