Labat Bags Over 15 Million on Day 2; 224 Remain

Nível 16 : 35,000/70,000, 70,000 ante
Antoine Labat
Antoine Labat

After eight hours of intense poker action, Day 2 of the partypoker LIVE MILLIONS UK Main Event has come to an end with 224 players still within a shot of the £1,000,000 first place prize.

After a very busy day at Dusk Till Dawn Casino, Nottingham the MILLIONS Main Event saw the total entries rise to 1,015 to break the £5,000,000 guarantee, with 127 places paid.

Antoine Labat will return as the Day 3 chip leader after he bagged a very impressive 15,075,000 chips. Not only will Labat have the chips on his side but he will also have the experience too. The Frenchman is no stranger to big wins having banked $1,000,000 for a 9th place finish at this year's WSOP Main Event.

Alexandru Ciureanu (14,555,000) and Guillaume Diaz (13,840,000) also had a good day at the tables with Ben Jones (12,845,000) and Luke Marsh (12,370,000) completing the top five chip counts.

Tom Hall, who finished in 11th place at the MILLIONS Main Event at Dusk Till Dawn last year, will return with 9,810,000 with the well-known face of Niall Farrell also coming back with a healthy 9,275,000.

partypoker's Patrick Leonard eliminated his fellow team pro member Sam Trickett in the very last hand of the day at the feature table to bag a stack worth 6,310,000. Leonard raised from the hijack with king-jack of spades and saw Trickett defend his big blind with seven-three of clubs off of a stack worth two million. Both players checked on the five-three-three flop that saw Trickett hit trips and when the nine of spades hit the turn, Leonard called a 300,000 bet with his flush draw. The river was exactly the card Leonard was looking for as the ace of spades fell to give him the nut flush. Trickett bet 600,000 into the one million pot, and Leonard counted his stack while thinking before he moved all in. Trickett was unsure of what to do and contemplated his decision for three minutes before he called and saw the bad news.

Fellow partypoker pros Marcel Luske and Bertrand Grospellier also departed in the final level of the day, with Ludovic Geilich alongside partypoker ambassadors Boris Becker and Carl Froch also exiting earlier on in the day.

However, partypoker have further representation in Day 3 alongside Leonard with pros Natalia Breviglieri (5,260,000), Anatoly Filatov (5,000,000), Kristen Bicknell (4,380,000), Roberto Romanello (2,100,000) and Joni Jouhkimainen (1,540,000) also progressing.

The MILLIONS Main Event saw some of the best players in the world come to try their luck but many were unable to progress to Day 3 with the likes of Jake Cody, Paul Jackson, David Peters, Benjamin Pollak, Aymon Hata, Mustapha Kanit, Kenny Hallaert, Anton Wigg, Martin Finger, Michael Addamo, Benny Glaser, Michael Chi Zhang, and Chris Moorman all heading to the rail.

Alexandre Gomes, who came into the day's action as the chip leader with a stack worth 6,215,000 was unable to continue the momentum he held from yesterday's Day 1c and was a shock departure during the fifth level of the day. Last year's partypoker LIVE MILLIONS main event runner-up Jacob Mulhern who won £650,000 on that occasion will not be able to repeat the feat this year after he exited in 508th place.

The action will get resume at noon on Friday, October, 5 with the money-bubble set to burst in the first half of the day with 127 players guaranteed a minimum cash worth £10,300.

PokerNews will be out on the floor once again to bring you all the action so join us back here at noon!

White Chipping Up Against Gomes

Nível 14 : 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante
Tom White
Tom White

Tom White was sitting on a stack of almost 5 million and said he won a lot against Alexandre Gomes who started the day as the chip leader but has now already been eliminated.

Gomes had opened from the cutoff and White three-bet in the small blind with pocket kings. Gomes called.

The flop came king-high and Gomes called White's continuation-bet of 300,000.

White bet again for 500,000 on the turn and Gomes called that one too.

On the river, White barreled another 900,000 over the line and Gomes still didn't believe him and called. White tabled the set and Gomes mucked.

Zhang Forced to Fold on the River

Nível 13 : 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante
Michael Zhang
Michael Zhang

Michael Chi Zhang raised to 50,000 and saw three players call. The flop came down {9-Spades}{9-Clubs}{8-Clubs}, and Zhang continued for 50,000 which got a call from Richard Hare on the button and the player in the small blind. All three players checked on the {k-Spades} turn and {7-Diamonds} hit the river. The small blind player checked, Zhang bet 200,000 and Hare raised to 600,000, precisely enough to put Zhang all-in. The player in the small blind folded and Zhang went into the tank.

Nearly three minutes passed for Zhang made his decision to fold, and we were left with a stack worth 400,000.

James Mitchell
James Mitchell

The board was down {5-Spades}{10-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{3-Clubs}, and Vojtech Ruzicka checked from the small blind. There was around 950,000 in the pot, and James Mitchell moved all in for 935,000.

Ruzicka went into the tank, and after close to two minutes of thought, Mitchell called the clock. But before the tournament director event had a chance to reach the table, Ruzicka quickly folded and surrendered the pot.

Kett Doubles Through Sklenicka

Nível 11 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante
Michael Sklenicka
Michael Sklenicka

The board read {4-Hearts}{q-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{3-Hearts} with a pot of just a bit over 600,000 in the middle already.

Ben Kett had bet 200,000 in the big blind and Michael Sklenicka was trying to figure out what to do from mid-position. After a minute or so, Sklenicka raised to 700,000. Kett contemplated for a while and then decided to shove. Sklenicka did not seem happy at all. He sat up straight and asked the dealer for a count. The dealer obliged and confirmed Kett had 2,030,000 behind.

"I have a big hand," Sklenicka said while going through all his options. After a while, Sklenicka reluctantly called.

Kett tabled {8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} for the turned full house and Sklenicka flicked open {k-Hearts}{k-Clubs} to show what he had as per the rules of an all-in situation.

The tournament organization has just announced the changes to the structure today:

All players in Day 2 have the opportunity to buy in twice today.

Everyone will play the first two 60-minute levels and then have a 15-minute break. The players in the poker room will play one level before being sent on a 60-minute dinner break. When they return, the players in the marquee will be sent for their 60-minute dinner break.

After that dinner break, the late registration and reentry period is supposed to be closed.

The players will all be playing one level and then have a 15-minute break. Then the usual two levels of 60 minutes will be played before they will all be taking their last 15-minute break of the day.

One more level will be played after the break before they can bag and tag their chips for Day 3.
