An exhilarating day of poker has come to an end here at the Playground Poker Club Montreal, Canada. The partypoker MILLIONS North America $5,300 Main Event Day 1C had 413 runners, with 186 of those finding a bag and moving onto Day 2.

It was a field jam-packed full of well-known poker pros, with the biggest of those being Antonio Esfandiari. "The Magician" entered the field just before the midway point of the day. Esfandiari used his time wisely, as he still managed to spin up a stack of 4,600,000. He has earned himself the next couple of days off before he takes his seat again on Day 2B.

Esfandiari has accumulated over $26.7 million dollars in his career, where his biggest cash came at the 2012 WSOP in the $1,000,000 Big One for One Drop.

The chip leader moving on from Day 1C was Christopher Kostoulas who bagged himself 6,450,000 chips. He was closely followed by Lawrence Whyte (6,055,000), Dean Murphy (6,000,000), and Tim Reilly (6,000,000) as the only players who hit the six million chip mark. Some other big names moving on from Day 1C include Alexander Lynskey (5,270,000), Seth Davies (5,175,000), Ari Engel (4,030,000), Anthony Zinno (3,760,000), and defending champion Jean-Pascal Savard (3,740,000).

After the first three starting flights, there have been 313 players move onto Day 2. Friday will be the last day of Day 1s, with Day 1D beginning at 12:00 PM and Day 1E starting at 8:00 PM. Players will still be giving the opportunity to buy in on Day 2 for the first four levels.

The PokerNews live reporting team will be back on Friday to bring you full coverage of Day 1D.

Blumstein Enters the Tournament With a Bang

Nível 2 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

The board showed {5-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} and Scott Blumstein led out for 140,000 into a pot around 370,000. The cutoff and button both made the call, the turn fell the {j-Clubs}. Blumstein bet 310,000 and again was called by both the cutoff and button.

The river came down the {4-Hearts} and Blumstein checked. The cutoff bet 775,000 and the button folded to Blumstein who after a few moments made the call for the rest of his 340,000 stack.

They both flipped over their hands, Blumstein showing {a-Spades}{k-Clubs} for ace high and his opponent revealed {7-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} for a missed two-way straight draw. The 2017 WSOP Main Event Champion made the right call and it was good to take down a massive pot.

Players are now ready to begin in what marks the middle of Day 1s in the partypoker MILLIONS North America $5,300 Main Event. Day 1C is set to begin play at 12:00 EST, at the Playground Poker Club in Montreal, Canada. This event has the largest guaranteed prizepool in Canadian history, with an outstanding $10,000,000 up for grabs and at least the top three people becoming millionaires.

The tournament is already on pace to surpass the guarantee and with players still flying in from all around the world, it surely will. The number of satellites taking place over the past several months will help contribute to the overall prizepool. The last three starting flights are expected to have the largest amount of players to take a shot at becoming a millionaire.

Players will be starting the day off with the blinds at 5,000/10,000 and a button ante of 5,000. After the first level, the button ante will be that of the big blind. The blinds will be 60-minutes in length with a 15-minute break after every two levels. A total of eight levels are to be played before the remaining players will be bagging their chips.

Late registration will not be officially closed until after level 12 on each of the Day 2s. Players will be allowed one re-entry on each Day 1, as well as each Day 2. Players may also bag multiple stacks on Day 1 and play both of the Day 2s. If players are to bag multiple stacks from the Day 2s, they will play the bigger stack and the smaller stack will be forfeited.
