With the opening event and high rollers now completed, it is time to shift the focus to the partypoker MILLIONS North America $5,300 Main Event. Day 1B is slated to get underway at 12:00 PM local time at the Playground Poker Club in Montreal, Canada. This event will be host to the largest guaranteed prizepool that poker has ever seen in Canada, with at least $10,000,000 up for grabs.

Not only are there five Day 1s being held during this series, players have been given the opportunity to satellite into the main event for nearly a year now. For those that live on the other side of the Country, one option was to play Day 1 and 2 at the Deerfoot Inn and Casino in Calgary, Alberta last week. A total of six players moved on from Calgary and will show up on Day 3 with their bagged chips. All of these entries will help guarantee that the top three places will each be crowned a millionaire.

As for today, players will begin with an even 1,000,000 chips with the blinds starting at 5,000/10,000 and a 5,000 button ante. After the first level, the button ante will be equal to that of the big blind. The blinds will be 60-minutes in length with a 15-minute break after every two levels. A total of eight levels will be played on each of the day 1s.

Late registration will remain open throughout all of the Day 1s and into Day 2. It will officially be closed after level 12 on each of the Day 2s. Players will be allowed one re-entry on each Day 1, as well as each Day 2. That means, if you are unlucky, the maximum number of entries could add up to 12. Players may also bag multiple stacks on Day 1 and play both of the Day 2s. Should they bag multiple stacks on Day 2, only the best stack will be moved forward to Day 3.

The PokerNews live reporting team will be bringing you all of the live updates throughout the entire event.

Chance Kornuth made his way to the table and barely had a chance to sit hand before his chips were flying into the pot. Marvin Rettenmaier opened to 25,000 from early position and Chance Kornuth three-bet to 90,000 in middle position. The action folded back around to Rettenmaier who made the call.

The flop came {k-Spades}{10-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} and Rettenmaier check-called a bet of 70,000 from Kornuth. The {3-Diamonds} landed on the turn and both players checked to the {k-Diamonds} on the river. Rettenmaier led out for 185,000 and Kornuth quickly called. Rettenmaier tabled {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds} for a full house while Kornuth flashed the {k-Clubs} before mucking.

"You could have had it all," Kornuth said to Rettenmaier. "If only you would have check-raised me."

Elias Slips Up

Nível 2 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

Darren Elias opened to 30,000 from under the gun and was called by the player directly to his left. The flop came {9-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} and Elias checked to his opponent who bet 40,000. Elias called and the {6-Diamonds} on the turn put four cards to a straight on the board.

Elias led out for 50,000 this time and his opponent just flat-called. The river was the {5-Diamonds} and Elias tossed in a bet of 175,000. His opponent went into the tank for a few minutes before finally making the call. Elias tabled {4-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} and was playing the board, while his opponent turned over {j-Spades}{10-Spades} for the nut straight.

Calvet Avoids an Ace to Double Through Kuo

Nível 2 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

There was a raise to 25,000 from under the gun and Bernat Calvet three-bet to 100,000 directly to his left. Kitty Kuo put in a four-bet to 225,000 and the action folded back to Calvet. He five-bet jammed all in for 655,000 and Kuo quickly made the call.

Bernat Calvet: {k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}
Kitty Kuo: {a-Clubs}{k-Spades}

Calvet would need to dodge an ace in order to double up and stay alive. The board ran out {j-Hearts}{8-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{6-Clubs} and Calvet's pocket kings held up, leaving Kuo with around 300,000 chips.
