Newey Doubles Once Again

Nível 23 : 80,000/160,000, 20,000 ante

The action started with Leonid Markin raising to 480,000 from the button. Paul Newey stared down his opponent for almost a minute before announcing all in totalling 4,435,000 in chips. The call was instant.

Newey: {9-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}
Markin: {a-Hearts}{7-Clubs}

Newey was in great shape to double up but it wasn’t without it sweat as the flop came down {j-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}. The turn gave Markin even more outs but it would not come as the {2-Clubs} completed the board.

Newey moves up to 8,910,000 in chips as Markin drops down to 3,840,000.

Stephen Chidwick Eliminated in 3rd Place (€355,070)

Nível 23 : 80,000/160,000, 20,000 ante
Stephen Chidwick Eliminated in 3rd
Stephen Chidwick Eliminated in 3rd

Stephen Chidwick open shoved from the button and Paul Newey thought about it for some time before folding. Leonid Markin in the big blind didn't need much time though as he held {A-Spades}{A-Hearts}. Chidwick showed {K-Spades}{9-Spades}.

The flop wasn't much help to Chidwick and just worsened the situation he was in: {3-Clubs}{4-Spades}{3-Hearts}.

Chidwick needed help on the turn; either a king, nine or spade would keep the hope alive, but it wasn't meant to be. The {6-Diamonds} popped up and Chidwick got up from his chair and shook hands with Markin and Newey as he had no more outs to stay alive.

The {Q-Hearts} on the river was just there to make things official and Chidwick was already on his way to the payout. The British pro, who finished third in both the EUREKA Main Event and the EPT Main Event last year here in Prague, receives a cheque worth €255.070.

The two remaining players are guaranteed €557,090 now and battle for the €771,360 first prize. There seem to be no interest for deal negotiations on both sides, so play continues straight away.

Newey in More Trouble

Nível 22 : 60,000/120,000, 20,000 ante

Paul Newey lost some small pots in a row, and just had the decision for all of the rest. He opened to 250,000 from the small blind and Leonid Markin shoved all in from the big blind. Newy had 2,320,000 behind and had to decide for it all.

"Ohhh," he sighed "I have two people!" Markin didn't really understand and Newey said "Two people yeah. People are jacks, queens and kings." Markin didn't understand and excused him for his bad English. Newey eventually let go of his two face cards and Markin gathered the chips.

Leonid Markin Bluffs it All (And Gets Away with it)!

Nível 22 : 60,000/120,000, 20,000 ante

Leonid Markin opened the button for 320,000 and received calls from Stephen Chidwick (small blind) and Paul Newey (big blind).

The flop came {J-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} and both blinds checked to initial raiser Markin who fired 460,000. Chidwick made the call, Newey folded.

The {Q-Clubs} on the turn made Chidwick check again, and call the 550,000 bet that followed.

The {4-Clubs} completed the board and Chidwick checked for a third time. Markin shoved all in and Chidwick asked if it was more than 2.9 million, the stack he had in front of him. Markin counted his stack completely calm, and said it was 3,210,000.

Chidwick folded after some thinking. Markin smiled, showed {A-Spades}{8-Hearts}, and raked in the big pot.

Stephen Chidwick Continuing To Build

Nível 22 : 60,000/120,000, 20,000 ante

Paul Newey opened to 240,000 from the button and was called by Stephen Chidwick on the big blind.

Both players checked the {3-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{q-Clubs} flop before the dealer produced the {a-Clubs} on the turn. Chidwick check called another bet of 275,000 as the {j-Diamonds} the completed the board.

Chidwick then reached for his chips and bet out 600,000. Newey tanked for a minute before finally releasing his hand into the muck.
