Almost As Big As Last Years Already

Nível 3 : 150/300, 25 ante

The clock makes mention of 174 players at the moment. Last year the total amount was 176 so there are only two more entries needed to break that record. With a full day of being able to (re)enter, that record will be easily smashed. It's huge, and there are a lot of players playing that we've never seen before in a High Roller.

Metaal Hits Pure Two Outer to Double Up

Nível 3 : 150/300, 25 ante
Govert Metaal
Govert Metaal

Govert Metaal is an easily identifiable player with his slick hair and a posh fedora on. He's a regular on the European Poker Tour (Super) High Rollers as well, so we had our eyes on him from the get go. That, and we speak the same language.

Metaal didn't start out too good today losing a rather big hand to an opponent with top set. It almost really went sour as he just got it in with just two outs left in the deck and only one card to go.

Metaal told us he had an open raise to 1,300 and a call in front of him and he squeezed to 4,800 with pocket nines. Both opponents made the call and Metaal bet 7,500 on {J-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}{3-}. Just one opponent stuck around.

A {5-} fell on the turn and Metaal's opponent checked. The number 11 of the Dutch All Time Money List shoved all in and got called. It turned out Metaal's opponent had pocket fives for a turned set and Metaal was in dire straits for one of the two remaining nines in the deck.

Well, wouldn't you know it, the river was a nine and Metaal got what he asked for; a rivered set, and so he doubled. His opponent was left behind with about 16,000.

Mantel's Straight No Good

Nível 3 : 150/300, 25 ante

Ariel Mantel got things underway with a raise to 600 from under the gun plus one. He was called by the player in middle position as well as the big blind.

The flop came down {10-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{j-Spades} and the big blind checked. Mantel threw out a continuation bet of 1,300 in chips before the player in middle position raised it up to 3,500. The big blind moved out of the way and Mantel paused for a moment. He then reached for his chips and bumped it up to 8,500 which was called before both players saw the {6-Spades} drop on the turn.

Mantel didn’t slow down, betting out 16,500. His opponent then moved all in for 40,825 and he snap called for less.

Mantel: {9-Clubs}{8-Clubs}
Opponent: {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}

Mantel had flopped the bottom end of the straight and was drawing dead against his opponents flopped broadway straight. The meaningless {10-Clubs} comlpeted the board resulting in the Argentine hitting the rail.

Stani Versus Liviu

Nível 3 : 150/300, 25 ante

In the last hand before the break on a flop of {7-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} Kevin Stani in the small blind checked to Ignat Liviu in the cutoff. Liviu made a bet and was soon met by a raise to 1,800. Liviu called, and called the 2,600 that Stani fired on the {8-Spades} turn as well. Both players checked the {10-Diamonds} on the river and Stani showed the winning {A-Spades}{7-Clubs}. Liviu mucked and got up from the table, destroying an empty porcelain coffee cup in the proces.

Apostolidis' Speech!

Nível 2 : 100/200, 25 ante
Ioannis Apostolidis
Ioannis Apostolidis

The action started with Atanas Malinov raising to 500 from under the gun. Ioannis Apostolidis then bumped it up to 5,000 before the decision fell back on Malinov. He four bet to 11,800 only to watch Apostolidis move all in for 55,100 in chips.

A minute or so passed before Apostolidis started speaking out.

“This is the biggest bluff you’ve ever seen!” said Apostolidis. “I know you cannot call! But it’s a bluff,” he added.

“Why can’t I call?” asked Malinov.

“Because it’s too much. You’re not stupid,” replied Apostolidis.

“I want you to call so then I can go home and think about how stupid I was,” added Apostolidis.

Another minute passed before Apostolidis was at it again.

“What do you have?” asked Apostolidis.

“Queens,” replied Malinov.

“You don’t have queens because if I did I would’ve called in five seconds,” said Apostolidis. “You have sevens,” he added.

Finally Sam Greenwoon called for the clock and the tournament director came over and started the 60-second countdown.

“I have to see,” said Malinov, rolling over his {q-Diamonds}{q-Hearts} moments later.

Apostolidis then tabled his {k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds} and watched as the board ran out {j-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{6-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{9-Clubs} to see him double to over 100,000 in chips.

Schemion Three Bets the Flop

Nível 2 : 100/200, 25 ante

On a flop of {4-Spades}{2-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} the player without an id-card in the big blind checked to Ole Schemion in the hijack. The German super star bet out 800 and was soon check raised to 2,000. Schemion three bet to 5,000 and the big blind snap called.

The {6-Clubs} fell on the turn and both players checked. The {A-Spades} on the river completed the board and the big blind checked. Schemion bet 4,200 and the big blind almost instantly folded.
