Seven Players Remain After Day 2 of €50,000 EPT Super High Roller

Nível 16 : Blinds 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

Day 2 of the €50,000 EPT Super High Roller has wrapped up at the 2022 PokerStars European Poker Tour Prague with just seven players remaining. All seven players have locked up at least a min-cash of €140,070 but they will all have their sights set on the first-place prize of €867,120 when play resumes on Day 3.

Leading the way heading into the final day is Rodrigo Seiji who holds a narrow lead over the rest of his competition with 2,460,000 chips. Seiji was also responsible for bursting the money bubble when he won a classic flip against Aleksejs Ponakovs in the last hand of the night. Ponakovs got his last 20 big blinds in the middle with pocket queens but was flipped to the rail by the ace-king of Seiji to bring an abrupt end to Day 2.

It's been a great start to the 2022 festival being held at the Hilton Prague for Seiji as he already claimed one title in the early going. The Brazilian raised the trophy in the €10,200 Mystery Bounty event for a cumulative score of over €100,000 including the bounties. He holds the slightest of leads heading into the final day as Sam Grafton and Daniel Dvoress share second place with 2,420,000, just 40,000 chips off the lead. Pablo Brito Silva (2,165,000), Sergio Aido (1,895,000), Dimitar Danchev (1,355,000), and Orpen Kisacikoglu (1,035,000) round out the rest of the field.

Day 2 Action

There were 26 players who returned to their seats from Day 1 and they were joined by six players who registered just before the cards went in the air. As for the late entries, it turned out to be a bad idea as none of them were able to advance very far on Day 2. Gerard Pique was one of the notable late entries and while a valiant effort was made through the first two levels, the professional football player eventually bowed out after the first break of the day.

It was Grafton, the lone PokerStars ambassador in the field, who came into the day with a healthy chip lead and that carried through for the better part of Day 2 as he had his game in cruise control. Despite some ups and downs as the money bubble approached, Grafton still put himself in a great position heading into the final day.

The other big stack going into Day 3 is Dvoress who found himself on a rollercoaster ride over the last two levels of the day. Dvoress was in a prime position to take over a massive chip lead with pocket kings against the ace-king of Kisacikoglu. However, an ace on the turn left Dvoress scratching and clawing to stay alive. As the poker gods would have it, Dvoress managed to double up with kings twice and crack Teun Mulder's aces en route to bagging the second-largest stack.

The action will resume at 12:30 p.m. local time tomorrow with seven minutes remaining in Level 16 and the blinds at 15,000/30,000 and a 30,000 big blind ante. The levels will continue to be 60 minutes in length unless the tournament director decides to shorten the levels to 45 minutes with fewer than five players. While each player has locked up a min-cash, there is plenty of money up for grabs in the €2,668,050 prize pool.

The PokerNews live reporting team will be back to bring you all of the live updates of the final table en route to crowning an EPT Super High Roller champion.

Classic Flip Sends Ponakovs Home on the Bubble

Nível 16 : Blinds 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante
Aleksejs Ponakovs
Aleksejs Ponakovs

Aleksejs Ponakovs opened to 70,000 from under the gun and Rodrigo Seiji three-bet to 200,000 a couple of seats over. The action folded back to Ponakovs who ripped all in for around 650,000. Seiji called and the cards were face up.

Aleksejs Ponakovs: {q-Hearts}{q-Clubs}
Rodrigo Seiji: {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}

It turned out to be a classic flip and the flop of {k-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{6-Hearts} put Seiji in the lead with a pair of kings. The {j-Clubs} on the turn gave Ponakovs some additional outs but the {4-Clubs} on the river was not one of them. Ponakovs was eliminated on the money bubble and the remaining seven players will now bag their chips for the night.

Aido Straightens Out Pardo

Juan Pardo
Juan Pardo

Sergio Aido raised to 110,000 in the small blind and Juan Pardo called from the big blind. The flop fell {k-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{7-Hearts} and Aido led out with a bet of 80,000. Pardo called and the {j-Hearts} rolled off on the turn.

Aido fired out another bet of 200,000 and Pardo stuck around to see the {8-Diamonds} on the river. Aido counted out a bet 450,000 and Pardo shipped all in for 525,000. Aido didn't like it but he made the call anyway. Pardo tabled {a-Clubs}{8-Clubs} for trip eights but Aido made a straight on the turn with {10-Spades}{9-Spades} to bring the field down to eight players.

Mulder Gets Flipped to the Rail

Nível 16 : Blinds 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante
Teun Mulder
Teun Mulder

Teun Mulder raised to 65,000 on the button and Daniel Dvoress three-bet to 150,000 in the big blind. Mulder four-bet shoved all in for 650,000 and Dvoress got the count before making the call.

Teun Mulder: {9-Spades}{9-Hearts}
Daniel Dvoress: {a-Clubs}{q-Hearts}

It was a coin flip and Mulder maintained the lead through the {8-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{3-Clubs} flop. The {10-Spades} on the turn changed nothing but it was the {a-Spades} on the river that ended Mulder's run in 10th place.

Two Pair for Dvoress

Daniel Dvoress
Daniel Dvoress

Daniel Dvoress raised to 65,000 from the button and only Orpen Kisacikoglu called from the big blind.

Kisacikoglu check-called for 110,000 on the {a-Clubs}{10-Spades}{6-Hearts} flop before leading for 100,000 on the {7-Diamonds} turn. Dvoress called.

The {8-Diamonds} river checked through to showdown. Kisacikoglu tabled his {a-Spades}{3-Spades} for a pair of aces but his hand went into the muck after Dvoress had two pair, aces and sixes, to claim the pot.

Rodrigo Seiji

Dimitar Danchev raised to 60,000 in the cutoff and Rodrigo Seiji called from the small blind. The flop came {10-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} and Seiji check-called a bet of 45,000 from Danchev.

The turn was the {q-Clubs} and both players checked to the {9-Hearts} on the river. Seiji checked again and Danchev threw in another small bet of 80,000. Seiji responded with a big check-raise to 580,000. Danchev paid him off and Seiji turned over the goods with {k-Hearts}{j-Hearts} for the nuts.
