After a one year hiatus under the umbrella of the PokerStars Championship, the popular European Poker Tour returns to the Cote d'Azur for the 12th time and the flagship event of the 2018 PokerStars and Monte-Carlo©Casino EPT festival is the €5,300 Main Event.

In its history, the biggest-ever prize in the history of the tour was awarded in Monaco when Pieter de Korver took home €2,300,000 back in 2009. Some of the biggest names in poker were competing year after year for the prestigious title at Le Sporting complex with Steve O'Dwyer and Adrian Mateos featuring in the winner's spotlight previously.

Defending champion of the EPT Main Event title in Monaco is Slovakia's Jan Bendik, while 2017 PokerStars Championship presented by Monte-Carlo©Casino Main Event winner Raffaele Sorrentino will be back for another shot at a title after qualifying online for the event.

A High Roller Table

Nível 1 : 100/100, 0 ante

Sosia Jiang sat down on her table and immediately spotted some faces that can normally be found on the High Roller circuit including Juan Pardo, the winner of the opening €10,300 High Roller here in Monte-Carlo. Other Highrollers include Daniel Dvoress and Christopher Frank and there wasn't much post flop action just yet.

Dvoress raised to 300 and was called two ways including Pardo in the big blind. The flop came {8-Spades}{2-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} and a bet of 300 by Dvoress did the trick.

Pardo limped in the next hand and Frank raised to 400, forcing a fold, before Pardo claimed the blinds and antes with a button raise to 300 after.

Sontheimer Forces Opponents Out

Nível 1 : 100/100, 0 ante

On the {a-Spades}{8-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{9-Spades} board three players were still in the hand, with 900 in the middle already. Steffen Sontheimer was first to act from the small blind and he bet 300. Harry Lodge was in the big blind and raised to 1,400. The button cold-called and Sontheimer also called.

The river was the {2-Clubs} and Sontheimer bet 5,100, which got two quick folds from his opponents.

Konopelko Sits Down and Builds Stack

Nível 1 : 100/100, 0 ante

Shortly after sitting down and taking a seat, Andrei Konopelko defended his big blind against a raise by Javier Fernandez Alonso and a call from Andre Haneberg on the button. The trio checked down the {10-Clubs}{8-Spades}{4-Diamonds} flop and Konopelko also checked the {3-Spades} turn. Fernandez Alonso bet 500 and was called two ways before the {J-Clubs} river was again checked down.

Konopelko turned over the {10-Spades}{8-Clubs} for two pair and that was good enough to win the pot.
