Welcome to Day 1 of the €100,000 Super High Roller

In two hours from now at 12.30 p.m. local time, Day 1 of the €100,000 Super High Roller takes place and it is one of the highlights of the PokerStars and Monte-Carlo® Casino European Poker Tour Grand Final in Season 12. The festival features a record 79 events and the Super High Rollers are returning for the fifth time, previous winners include Justin Bonomo, Max Altergott, Daniel Colman and Erik Seidel.
The number of entries has been growing every year and in 2015, Seidel defeated EPT12 Dublin Main Event champion Dzmitry Urbanovich last year for a payday of more than two million Euros in a field of 71 entries. Day 1 features a total of eight levels of 60 minutes each and the participants receive 250,000 in chips, unlimited re-entries are available.
The registration for the tournament closes 15 minutes prior to the start of Day 2 tomorrow at 12.15 p.m. local time and the PokerNews live reporting team will be there to cover all the action until a winner is crowned on Saturday, there will also be a live stream with hole cards available for the official final table as well.

Early Entries
The clock has been stopped and the already registered players are heading to the tournament area to draw for their tables and seats. Among those that are already in the event are Dan Smith, Charlie Carrel, Timothy Adams, Vladimir Troyanovskiy and Timofey Kuznetsov.
The name Kuznetsov may not necessarily ring a bell and there is only result to his name thus far, a fourth place in the Super High Roller Bowl in Las Vegas in 2015 for a payday of $ 2,150,000.

The Regular Crowd Shuffles In

Play started with just two three-handed tables and Dan Smith bullying his out of a few pots to get out to the extremely early lead.
The board now reads 16 entrants, however, and the tables are filling up with high roller regs Christoph Vogelsang and Justin Bonomo joining in the fun and venture capitalist Paul Newey and high-stakes sports bettor Haralabos Voulgaris joining them.

Troyanovskiy Takes from O'Dwyer

"And I want a banana, not a normal one, a big one. Not the biggest one." The waitress seemed confused by this request from Steve O'Dwyer while Mikita Badziakouski could all but laugh two seats over. Ultimately, the Irishman received two bananas and then got involved in a hand with table neighbor Vladimir Troyanovskiy.
On the 
flop, O'Dwyer bet 3,500 and was called before leading for another 7,500 on the 
turn. Again, Troyanovskiy called and then had the action checked to him on the 
river. The Russian fired 13,000 and that scooped the pot uncontested.

Kuznetsov Dominates Table Two

Timofey Kuznetsov was seemingly involved in almost every hand on table two and the vast majority of early pots went to the Russian thus far. On the 
turn, Dan Smith faced a bet worth 5,000 by Kuznetsov and gave up the hand.
Soon after, Smith check-called a bet of 1,500 on the 
flop, again Kuznetsov was the aggressor. Smith check-called another 4,000 on the 
turn before check-folding the 
river to a bet worth 25,000 by the Russian.
Last but not least, it was Christoph Vogelsang who defended his big blind against Kuznetsov. Both checked the 
flop before the German gave up the 
turn to a bet worth 10,000.

Altergott Got Got

From the hijack, Christoph Vogelsang raised to 2,800 and former EPT Grand Final Super High Roller champion Max Altergott in the big blind was the only caller.
Altergott check called 3,200 on a flop of 
, 11,500 on the turn, and 32,000 on the 
river. Vogelsang tabled 
and Altergott quietly mucked.
Right after that hand, play was halted for a moment as Byron Kaverman entered the tournament to get it to 3 tables instead of 2.
