Torbergsen Tops Day 1 in EPT Online 02: $10,300 PLO High Roller; Bujtas Eyes Another Title

The first of three mixed games of the 2020 PokerStars European Poker Tour (EPT) Online attracted a field of 70 entries in EPT Online 02: $10,300 PLO [6-Max, PLO High Roller], consisting of 39 unique players and 31 re-entries. After more than seven and half hours of near non-stop action, the seven-handed final table has been reached and players from seven different countries have a shot at the $188,937 top prize while the top nine finishers locked up a portion of the $700,000 prize pool.
Players from seven different countries remain in contention for the first EPT Online PLO title and in quite remarkable fashion, four of those seven finalists fired the maximum allowed four entries whereas the other three contenders made it through their first and only bullets. Norway's Andreas "Skjervoy" Torbergsen grabbed the overnight lead with a stack of 1,601,224 after being responsible for the final two eliminations of the night.
Second-placed Rob "batoelrob" Hollink has a long track record of PLO cashes and also won the 2005 EPT Grand Final in Monte-Carlo. The Dutchman burst the money bubble and accumulated 1,371,950, narrowly ahead of Laszlo "omaha4rollz" Bujtas (1,352,317).
The remaining finalists include Eelis "EEE27" Pärssinen (955,066), Ka Kwan "kaju85" Lau (925,665), Dante "dantegoyaF" Goya (542,732) and "d.apollo777" (251,046)

The Action of the Day
The field quickly grew to three tables in the first hour of play and a steady influx of new faces and re-entries ensured that the guarantee was already reached after four hours. Towards the end of the late registration period, the action escalated with all-in showdowns at a rapid pace and it was no surprise to see Laszlo "omaha4rollz" Bujtas involved.
As one of the later entries, Bujtas ran up a stack on his first two attempts only to bow out and the third time seemed to be the charm until he clashed with Ka Kwan "kaju85" Lau, who was not willing to fold the second nuts. Lau subsequently became the first chip millionaire and reigned atop the leaderboard for an extended period.
However, in his trademark aggressive fashion, Bujtas took over the lead after winning a big pot off fellow countryman Andras "probirs" Nemeth and relentlessly added to his growing stack. On the final three tables, big names such as Ola "Odd_Oddsen" Amundsgard and Yuri "theNERDguy" Dzivielevski hit the rail followed by Espen "locomi" Myrmo and "Lateski".
Ludovic "ludovi333" Geilich missed out on another PLO score for the resume when he ran out of chips in 13th place and in the blink of an eye, Joao "Naza114" Vieira was also gone. The money bubble was reached shortly after and Hollink first doubled through Bujtas to then eliminate Nemeth on the bubble shortly after. It was then time to shine for Andreas "Skjervoy" Torbergsen, who knocked out Christopher "Apotheosis92" Kruk and "Aku1206" within three hands to conclude the action for the night.

Nearly the entire level 21 at blinds of 10,000/20,000 remains to be played when the action resumes on Monday, November 9th, 2020, as of 2,05 p.m. EST and the level duration increases to half an hour each until a champion has been crowned. Stay tuned to find out who wins the title as the PokerNews live reporting team will provide all the action until the final river card.
