Tollerene Shoots Down Sluiter

Nível 5 : 200/400, 50 ante
Raemon Sluiter
Raemon Sluiter

We caught the action on a flop of {8-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{4-Clubs} in a heads-up pot between Dutchman Raemon Sluiter and Ben Tollerene just as Sluiter led out for a bet of 2,300. Tollerene looked on impassively before counting out the call and carefully placing it in out on the baize.

The {a-Clubs} turn completed a possible club flush and Sluiter bet out 6,600 leaving himself 7,000 behind. Tollerene did not miss this fact and after thinking it over, smooth called once again taking play to the {6-Clubs} river.

Sluiter shoved for his remaining 7,000 and Tollerene beat him into the pot. The Dutchman showed {j-Clubs}{5-Spades} for a flush but this was not enough to beat Tollerene’s turned full house and the US pro flipped over {a-Hearts}{a-Spades} to send Sluiter to the exit.

Sluiter's girlfriend Fatima Moreira de Melo has also been eliminated from the event. She was down to about 25 big blinds or so and got it in with queens to ace-king. She did not survive the encounter and had headed to the rail just before Sluiter.

Kozlov Continues to Climb

Nível 5 : 200/400, 50 ante

Martin Kozlov just took down a pot after putting his opponent to the ultimate test for his tournament life.

The hand began with Kozlov raising to 850 before a tablemate played back at him for 2,400. Kozlov called and the two of them saw {2-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} land on the flop.

Kozlov check-called a bet of 1,800 and the {8-Hearts} arrived on the turn.

The action was then checked through to the {k-Hearts} river card. Kozlov slid forward a stack of chips with enough to cover his opponent’s remaining 10,000. The latter gave it some thought but eventually relinquished his hand.

Tan Takes Down Another

Nível 5 : 200/400, 50 ante
Jay Tan
Jay Tan

While Ken Wong may be struggling to get much above starting stack his better half Jay Tan is fairing extremely well so far today and is busy building quite the chip castle.

We caught the action on the turn in a heads-up pot between Tan and a neighboring player with the community cards reading {2-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} just as Tan fired out a roughly half pot-sized bet. Tan’s opponent thought it over and grudgingly made the call and it was off to the river, which comes down a non-diamond {6-Hearts}.

Tan reached for chips once more, leading out for 7500 and her opponent folded pretty speedily.

“Flush draw?” asked Tan as she pulled in the pot, but her opponent gave nothing away. Tan is now over the 100k mark and looks to be sitting on around 108,000.

Douaglin Eliminates Another to Take the Chip Lead

Nível 5 : 200/400, 50 ante
Joel Douaglin
Joel Douaglin

After earlier eliminating a player from the tournament with pocket aces and doubling-up, Joel Douaglin has repeated the same punishment on yet another player.

Arriving at the table we found both Douaglin and his opponent trade raises until both had committed all their stacks.

Douaglin: {a-Clubs}{a-Spades}
Opponent: {k-Clubs}{k-Hearts}

The all in player was in for 65,700 and was at risk against Douaglin's over pair who had him covered.

Douaglin stepped up from the table and even turned around as the river card was exposed on the {j-Spades}{8-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{8-Clubs} board before taking down the pot and storming into the chip lead.

Douaglin is no stranger to the Aussie Millions main event after finishing in 3rd place in 2015 (eventually won by Manny Stavropoulos) and has put himself in a great position for another potentially deep run.

Thomas Takes Out Gupta

Nível 5 : 200/400, 50 ante

Ash Gupta is the latest casualty here after he was eliminated at the hands of Russell Thomas.

Thomas opened the action to 800 before Craig McCorkell called from the small blind. Ash Gupta was sitting in the big blind and he moved all in for 6,600 in total. Thomas called it off, McCorkell folded, and the two active players flipped over their hands.

Thomas: {a-Diamonds}{q-Spades}
Gupta: {a-Clubs}{j-Hearts}

Thomas had Gupta dominated and he improved further on the {q-Clubs}{6-Spades}{10-Clubs} flop. Needing a king to spike Broadway or running clubs to make the nut flush Gupta couldn’t do it as the {10-Hearts} turn and {4-Clubs} river sealed his fate.

Engel Drops Some, Wong Back to Starting Stack

Nível 5 : 200/400, 50 ante

Defending Champion Ari Engel is currently one of the larger stacks but has dropped a few chips over the last couple of hands.

In the first Engel opened to 950 on the button, getting one caller from the big blind. Both players checked the {q-Hearts}{a-Clubs}{10-Clubs} flop so it was off to the turn, which came down {8-Hearts}.

The big blind checked for the second time and Engel led out for 1,000 only for his opponent to check-raise to 2,600 in total, leaving himself 13,300 behind. This does not deter Engel who made the call to bring the action to the river.

The {6-Hearts} does not appear to change much and Engel’s opponent quickly led out for 2,625 with Engel folding instantly, telling his opponent he folded king-queen when asked.

Engel bled a little more the following hand. Ken Wong made it 1,000 to go from the hijack with Engel calling the button and both blinds coming along for the ride.

The blinds check the {10-Spades}{10-Clubs}{6-Clubs} flop over to Wong, who continuation bets 1,500. Engel calls and both blinds bow out taking play heads-up to the {3-Diamonds} turn.

Wong thinks it over before double barreling for 3,100 and Engel calls once more.

The {5-Hearts} river brought a third barrel from Wong, this one a slightly larger 7,100 and Engel gave it up to drop down to 90,800 while Wong climbed to 28,000.

Dunst Defeats Drinan

Nível 5 : 200/400, 50 ante

Connor Drinan was seen getting up from the table, Tony Dunst was seen stacking a lot of chips. We missed the action but Dunst was kind enough afterwards to tell us the details of what had transpired.

A player in middle position had opened for 950 and in Dunst three-bet to 2,900 from the hijack. Over in the big blind it was Connor Drinan cold four-betting to 7,500 out of a 25,000 stack. The initial raiser folded but Dunst had bigger plans and moved in. Drinan called.

Drinan was in excellent position to double up as he had {K-}{K-} to Dunst's {A-}{K-}. Dunst, however, would hit an ace on {A-}{3-}{3-}{6-}{7-} and Drinan was forced to leave the tournament area.

Tony Dunst finished runner-up here last year for AUD$1,000,000 ($700,069), the biggest score of his career. That all started with him losing a $5,000-chip, remember that?

Nitsche Empties The Clip

Nível 5 : 200/400, 50 ante

The community cards were spread {7-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{j-Spades}{5-Spades} and Jackie Glazier checked in the small blind. The only other active player was Dominik Nitsche and he made it 8,500 to go from the cutoff.

Glazier made the call and the {k-Clubs} river arrived to complete the board.

After another check from Glazier, Nitsche took a look at her stack before announcing that he was all in for roughly 27,500. Glazier gave the decision a minute of deliberation before sliding her hand face down to the dealer.

Alex Keating Eliminated

Nível 5 : 200/400, 50 ante
Alex Keating (photo from a different event but he still has the same impressive beard)
Alex Keating (photo from a different event but he still has the same impressive beard)

Alex Keating, who you might remember from his deep run in the WSOP Main Event last year (and his incredible beard and table talk), has just been eliminated. He got up from the table wishing his former table mates good luck, and was kind enough to fill us in on some details of his bust out hand.

Keating was down to just 7,000 and reshoved with {A-}{J-} in a button versus cutoff situation. His opponent called with {A-}{K-} and the board brought no help to Keating.

"See you next time!" Keating said.

McCorkell the Mind Reader

Nível 5 : 200/400, 50 ante

The players at WSOP bracelet winner Craig McCorkell’s table seem a little more wary after he just exhibited either an impressive feat of mind reading or managed an incredible guess.

McCorkell went to the flop of {2-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{8-Clubs} with two other opponents before the one who was first to act bombed it for an even 15,000. After a fold from the third party, McCorkell pointed to the bettor.

“King of hearts, king of clubs” McCorkell announced confidently with a fold.

“What? You saw them!” said McCorkell’s opponent, staring at his cards in disbelief.

After a few moments he laid down the {k-Hearts} and {k-Clubs} on the table, still stunned by what McCorkell had said as he raked in the pot.

“He’s just in the zone” said a fellow tablemate.
