"Maybe I Should Have Shipped It"

Nível 10 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Over at Table 50, the player in the cutoff opened for 3,000 and action folded to Team PokerStars Pro Jason Mercier in the big blind. He didn't have much, but he opted to just call, which left him 6,600 behind.

When the flop fell {7-Diamonds}{a-Spades}{10-Spades}, Mercier paused for a couple beats and then moved all in. His opponent snap-folded.

"Maybe I should have shipped it," Mercier said with a laugh.

Meanwhile, Elliot Smith has been eliminated from the tournament.

Bassat Shows The Goods

Nível 10 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Andrew Bassat, one of Australia's most successful entrepreneurs, just found himself in a raising war with poker legend Erik Seidel. When we arrived on the scene Seidel had 17,500 out in front of him, but the action was on him as Bassat had shoved on him.

Seidel, seated on the button, seemed quite pained by his decision and ultimately he folded.

Bassat threw his cards forward face down, but in the end he couldn't resist.

Bassat showed {A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts} and said, "It was quite obvious, wasn't it?"

Seidel smiled and tapped the table in defeat, as he just saved himself from potentially busting out.

Graham Busts Herold

Nível 10 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

From under the gun, Roman Herold raised to 2,600. Ronnie Bardah called from the next seat, and then Jared Graham reraised to 8,000 from the hijack seat. Play folded back to Herold, he called, and then Bardah also came along to see the flop.

The flop was {K-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{6-Spades}, and action checked to Graham. He bet 12,000, Herold called, and Bardah folded.

The turn was the {7-Hearts} to pair the board, and Herold checked. Graham also checked, and the river was the {J-Clubs}. Herold bet 22,000 with 16,600 behind. Graham raised all in, and Herold went into the tank. Eventually, he called with the {K-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}, but it was no good against Graham's {A-Spades}{A-Diamonds}.

Herold was eliminated, and Graham improved to 220,000 in chips.

"Nice value shove," said Bardah.

An Orbit w/ Chip Leader James Obst

Nível 10 : 600/1,200, 200 ante
James Obst
James Obst

James Obst began the day as the chip leader — which he bagged on Day 1a — and he's picked up right where he left off. In fact, Obst has nearly doubled his stack thus far today and still sits atop the counts.

We decided to spend an entire orbit at Table 50, which is not only playing host to Obst, but also Poker Hall of Famer Erik Seidel and Team PokerStars Pro Jason Mercier, that latter of who is on life support with just 10,000 in chips.

Obst, who has $1,132,108 in lifetime tournament earnings, is looking to make a deep run in the tournament and improve upon his 19th-place finish back in 2013, his best-ever finish in this tournament. Here's an entire orbit from Obst's perspective.

Hand #1 (Under the Gun): Obst folded.

Hand #2 (Big Blind): Action folded to the player in the small blind, who limped, and Obst checked his option from the big to see a {j-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{k-Spades} flop. The small blind led out for 2,000 and Obst quickly folded.

Hand #3 (Small Blind): The player in the cutoff raised to 2,800, the button called, and Obst folded. Seidel called from the big blind and three players took a flop of {9-Spades}{q-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}. Seidel checked and then both he and the player on the button folded when the cutoff continued for 4,700.

Hand #4 (Button): The cutoff opened for 3,000 and Obst folded. Mercier did the same from the big blind after flashing one of his cards. "Another deuce," he explained.

Hand #5 (Cutoff): The player in the hijack raised to 3,000 and won another pot after everyone folded.

Hand #6 (Hijack): Action folds to Obst and he releases. After Seidel does the same, Mercier shoves the button. Both blinds folded. "Not messing around guys," Mercier said and showed the {5-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}.

Hand #7 (Middle Position): The under-the-gun player raised to 2,700 and Obst three-bet to 8,300. Action folded back to the original raiser, who called, and the two saw a flop of {5-Spades}{q-Spades}{2-Hearts}. The under-the-gun player folded and Obst continued for 7,500. That did the trick as his opponent folded.

Hand #8 (Early Position): Obst raised to 2,700 and took down the blinds and antes.

It wasn't the most action-packed Orbit, but Obst managed to increase his stack a bit. Meanwhile, Mericer is in desperate need of spinning it up.

Stevan Chew's Stack Eliminated

Nível 10 : 600/1,200, 200 ante
Stevan Chew
Stevan Chew

We missed all the preflop action and only caught the action from the flop. On {4-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} we witnessed Stevan Chew (middle position) betting 26,500. His neighbor (hijack) in the one seat called after some tanking.

The turn came the {2-Spades} and Chew shoved all in for 66,100. His opponent buried his face in his arms for a second before tanking and thinking while staring at Chew. He eventually called, and it was time to put the cards on their backs.

Stevan Chew: {5-Clubs}{6-Clubs}
Opponent: {J-Spades}{J-Diamonds}

The river came the {4-Hearts} and a non involved older player almost had a heart attack; "Wow! Wow! What a hand! Oh my goodness! Oh my goodness!"

While Chew's opponent muttered "I thought you bluffed me with ace-king or ace-queen or something. Low board, its possible", Chew just counted out the chips he needed to part with.

"That's twice now that you had the goods with all the chips in. Those are bad days man, bad days" Kevin O'Donnell said, though we imagine Chew wasn't really comforted by it.

Chew's opponent had 63,700, leaving Chew with just 2,400. Chew doubled the next hand with {A-Spades}{2-Diamonds} against Kevin O'Donnell's {10-Spades}{J-Hearts} to get back to 6.5 big blinds, but was eliminated not much later.

Nice Read by Huang

Nível 10 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

When we just arrived at Kevin O'Donnell's table when the flop showed {7-Spades}{7-Clubs}{8-Spades}. On our first glance at the action we noticed something interesting, and O'Donnell said the following.

"This table has been unbelievably slow, but this time it's actually warranted."

The pot contained about 14,000 chips when Xiuming Huang had put out a bet of 70,000, putting his opponent all in for right around 50,000.

Huang's opponent went into the tank for well over five minutes before the clock was called, and during this whole process the bettor was casually reading his book.

Huang had a book leaning against the rail, and he turned quite a few pages before his opponent eventually folded.

Huang's opponent threw {K-Diamonds}{K-Hearts} face up into the muck, and the entire table seemed to be in shock. Stevan Chew's jaw almost dropped on the rail, and the other players seemed baffled as well.

"What did he show?" Huang said, as he was finishing up a page while his opponent folded face-up.

"He folded kings," one of the other players said.

"Good fold," Huang quietly said

"Yeah, for you!" another player chimed in.

"You had two nines, max!" another chimed in, but Huang remained silent and mucked his cards while he raked in the pot.

Randy Lew Couldn't Dodge a Queen

Nível 10 : 600/1,200, 200 ante
Randy Lew
Randy Lew

We asked Manig Loeser what had happened to Randy Lew, and he and his neighbor told us the details of the PokerStars Team Online's bust out.

The player under the gun had opened to 2,700 and a player in middle position three-bet to 7,500. Randy Lew cold-four bet to 14,000 and action folded around to the three-bettor. That player shoved all in and Lew called all in for his approximate 45,000.

Lew was in pole position to receive a full double as he had {A-}{A-} and was up against {Q-}{Q-}. The board however ran out {K-}{Q-}{3-}{6-}{3-} giving his opponent a full house and eliminating Lew.
