Andrew Phaedonas raised to 18,000 in the hijack seat, Phillip Willcocks three-bet all in for 129,000 on the button, and Tyler Cornell cold-called out of the small blind. Phaedonas re-shoved for 266,000 more, and once again Cornell called.

With his jacks holding up, Phaedonas rocketed up the charts to 930,000 chips. Willcocks hits the rail, and Cornell plummets to 230,000.
Jason Mercier began the action with an opening raise to 16,000 from early position. Scott Seiver was next to act, and flat-called before action folded to Florian Bussmann in the big blind. Bussmann reraised and made it 59,000 to go. Mercier folded to get out of the way, and it was a good thing he did because the fireworks were about to fly.
Seiver opted to reraise, and he made it 146,000. Not to be outdone, Bussmann clicked it back with a min-reraise to 233,000 — another 87,000 more to Seiver. Seiver then moved all in for a total shove of 736,000. Bussmann called, and the cards were on their backs.
Seiver tabled the and had Bussmann's in bad shape. The flop, turn, and river ran out to keep Seiver's aces in front and give him the massive pot. Seiver moved to 1.5 million in chips, which was good enough to take the chip lead, while Bussmann was knocked all the way back to a little over 300,000.
Darren Rabinowitz was first to act on Table 19, and raised to 16,000. Florian Bussmann was sitting on his direct left, and three-bet to what looked like 43,000. The action folded back to the American, who four-bet to 82,000, but his German opponent wouldn't back down.
Bussmann put in a five-bet, making it 146,000 to go, and Rabinowitz snap-folded.
Bob Trask moved all in for 39,000 from the under-the-gun position and cleared the field all the way around to Jarred Graham in the big blind. He made the call and the cards were turned up.

Trask was well out in front and took a hammerlock on the hand when the flop paired his ace. The turn left Graham drawing dead, and after the was run out on the river Trask was shipped the double.
Just before the dinner break, Derek Wolters was eliminated from the tournament courtesy of Erik Seidel.
It happened when Seidel raised the button and then called when Wolters shipped for 69,000 more.

Both players held a queen, which meant Seidel's jack kicker had him well out in front. Wolters was in desperate need of a ten, but he wouldn't find one as the board ran out . Wolters, the roommate of Jake Balsiger, was sent to the rail just before dinner while Seidel went to eat knowing he had a healthy stack of 600,000 to return to.
Just before the dinner break, David Middleton was all in and at risk for around 100,000 with . Khylon Hanegraaf had him at risk with , and Hanegraaf remained ahead when the flop fell . The spiked on the turn, giving Middleton the lead, and the bricked off on the river.
Middleton doubled to 200,000 chips, while Hanegraaf fell to 639,000.
From under the gun, Scott Seiver raised to 12,000. Action then folded to Team PokerStars Pro Jason Mercier in the big blind, and he reraised all in for approximately 120,000. Seiver began to think, and Mercier commented, "Don't do it, Scott." Eventually, Seiver made the call.
Seiver tabled the , and he was up against the for the at-risk Mercier.
